  1. Hi, looks like the weston fuel people are hiding something to me. I have two bottles of southern modelcraft fuel that I got from the show at Elvington and none of my engines are happy on it. Very poor tickover and dead sticks. No amount of tuning would correct the problem. It ended up on the garden as weed killer. It was quite effective at that. D
  2. Almost finished my latest addition to the squadron. I am having trouble with finding the correct Cof G. The manual states 10-13 cm from the leading edge of the top wing. I have put a mark on the wing at 12cm and to be honest it doesnt t look right to me all. Almost an inch from the trailing edge. Also the small image in the manual has an arrow at the cg point and it looks much closer to the front edge. I would post photos but the image uploader does not seem to be working tonight. Can anyone help. Dean
  3. I had to phone Horizon Hobby with a problem with my AR8000 receiver which was not responding. It went in the post Wed tea time and a brand new receiver and satellite appeared friday morning. I know people have mentioned Horizon Hobbies excellent customer service before but having experienced it first hand I have to give credit where credit is due. Well done indeed. Dean
  4. Mouse something to look at. I have a usb battery pack that charges my iphone whilst I am out and about. If you look on Amazon for the New Trent usb battery you may find something suitable to power your camera. Providing of course that your camera will operate whilst connected to power. I got the 11000mah pack which would be too heavy put in a model but there are smaller ones. Dean
  5. Ian, I am looking for a little project to do over the xmas hols. the suppliers are out of stock of the Dual Ace kits at the moment so it looks like a waiting job anyway . Cymaz that front leg looks the part. I have not had a lot of success with wire undercarriage, I had a Black Horse Chipmunk that was an absolute pig. No matter how gently the landing the wheels folded under and it nose dived into the grass. didnt have that model long for that reason.
  6. Hi Percy. Thank you for the reply, this model is fast becoming the next on my list. I looked at the Twin Comanche but after reading things on other forums it became clear that that model has problems with the undercarriage that were not clear. The Dual Ace is looking a much better option.
  7. HI Ian. Most people do seem to use the two stroke option recommended by Seagull but our field only allows 4 stroke's. Just wondering if a pair of SC52's would be adequate. D
  8. I am twitching over the Seagull Dual Ace. Does anyone have any knowledge on this model. I am thinking of using a pair of SC52 four stroke engines but that could be changed to SC70's if needed. I have concerns about the nose wheel strength. I fly from grass and my experiences of models with wire undercarriage are not good. Any help would be gratefully received. Dean
  9. Obviously Mr O.S in his infinite wisdom doesnt want you dismantling it and finding out its a rebadged Turnigy motor.
  10. Ripmax, dont get me started on that shower. I lost my almost new Wot 4 to a duff Ripmax flight battery. The battery went back to them for examination and as a gesture of good will they replaced it as faulty. They totally refused any form of liabily for the model though. Even though their duff battery caused it to crash they were having none of it. Customer sevice. A bit fat 0
  11. Hi PeD I have just maidened my Acrowot this last weekend. I did notice that it goes a lot further than my Wot 4 when taking off but once its in the air it is superb. It is the ARTF version with an SC91 pulling it. My Wot 4 will take all of in two feet of runway on full throttle at take off. Not very scale but fun all the same. I found that running a smaller pitch prop helps when landing. I have a 14 X 6 on my acrowot and it lands nicely within the boundrys of the pitch. I run a 13 X 4 on my wot 4 as it is quite hard to get down in the space available when there is little head wind to help slow the model down. The smaller pitch creates less waft when the engine is at idle allowing the model to come in slower. hope this helps Dean
  12. I tried this on one of my Orange receivers and if the battery is plugged on the wrong way round a steady light comes on. Reverse the power connector and putting the bind plug on in the correct place and it flashes waiting for a signal from the transmitter. D
  13. Percy, I prefer the ARTF route. i dont like building from scratch although i have done in the past . The manufacturers could provide some quality items for a few pounds more but they dont. The ARTF version is bigger than the kit build and more suited to the engine I will be fitting.
