  1. That's disappointing to read Stevo, I've used these on a few occasions and found them very good.
  2. Posted by cymaz on 08/02/2014 07:48:02: As I understand it FASST and FHSS are not interchangeable, Futaba dropped the ball thinking that one up.   I don't agree they dropped the ball , I did when they first introduced the FHSS system but as time has gone by I can see their thinking in having a high end & a budget option, And as Allan states the higher end transmitters cover them both, So as a user upgrades and wants a higher spec TX then it doesn't mater what system you start with. As for where they differ , its all to do with the frequency hopping. This explains it all and how it works. Click on the Technology bit at the top of the page to see the differences in the two. **LINK** Edited By Justin K on 08/02/2014 09:14:11
  3. Tony I will watch this build with much interest. This Shackelton story is about my wives grandfather. **LINK**
  4. Hi Beigeman, Welcome to the forum. Your question may get more response in the electric flight section.
  5. Yes I will second this for service, I ordered a domed alloy spinner for my OS 91Fs surpass yesterday lunchtime and it arrived this morning fully machine threaded & recessed. Excellent service , shame they only do engines and not weather forecasts.
  6. Yes mate I can see this now, I confused the engine washer with the spinner. The geometry of the box is wrong, I would take it up with hobbyking before going any further. I cant see they could have any argument ? Its sold as ARTF and the box is pre fitted and down to them. Its either that as as Steve suggests you will have to cut it off and re fab it.
  7. I take it the top 2 shots are with the washers in place, and the bottom without?
  8. Side to the right and down is how they usually come. When I built the fuselage section on the Flair puppeteer you had to assemble a similar box consisting of 4 rectangular sections and one square back section. You could assemble the box in a multitude of ways but only one combination gave side right and down thrust lines. I suspect this may be the root of your problem John.
  9. I'd like to be RCM&Es page 7 fella for August.
  10. ????? Its obvious the extension box has been incorrectly fitted so getting the thrust line straight would be a starting point. Then only flying it will tell. The majority of my airframes have some downthust built in but my Hangar 9 Hellcat has a bit of up.
  11. I use the woven matting rather than the chop strand stuff, its easier to cut and will shape around the 90 degree edges on your engine extension box better. Also my flying buddy has a massive roll of it so its free lol. Get your thrust line issue sorted first and then do the glassing John.
  12. Dont give up John, as stated above its just a case of packing out the mounts off the fire wall. You will have that beast up and going in no time J..
  13. I am looking forward to the Blackbushe Show in May , and also have coincided a trip to York to see the inlaws with the LMA Elvington show in August. I do like the idea of a fly in but i'm not sure we have and down south?
  14. Me too Phil. I wonder what the price is going to be seeing as it's a Bipe? With the Acro Wot @ £125 ish I would think around the £150 mark?
  15. Posted by Robin Kearney on 29/01/2014 20:16:01: Thanks Paul, the link is horrible and takes you to the mobile site, I also notice I spelt the name wrong in the title. Any mods about please feel free to fix that up so it'll at least be found in searches. Are there ailerons on both wings, or just the top? Me and computers are not having a good day! r. Both Robin, looks nice eh
  16. Reserve one of these for me please Mr Foss
  17. Martin, the plane WOT you have chosen will suit you well. I too would go for a 46 size engine. Maybe a second hand Irvine ?
  18. Good going John, I thought the bench was going to take off What are you going to bolt that on to?
  19. Hey Martin, I remember going to an RC Jet event at WestonZoyland in the id 90s . There is a place for IC and electric so don't feel left out. My preference is for IC but I have a couple of electrics. Today im not going to use any power and plan to hurl things off a hillside into the wind
  20. Hi Colin, I presume this is the same Irvine that you ran in at the end of last year? The running in process can destroy your plug so this would be my first port of call. An OS number 8 suits this engine nicely, Secondly as mentioned are you sure your fuel is good? When you say it die's is that at tickover or whilst reving? J...
  21. Hi Martin, well you seem to be well on your way already . Its good to hear your keenness in getting an IC plane off the ground. Where in Somerset are you from? There a some good clubs down there are lots of people whom I am sure will be willing to help you learn the in's & outs of IC engines .
  22. Hi Ooops , I and many others learnt on a boomerang & 46 2 stroke engine. No need at all to start off with electric. But as a beginner I would suggest picking either IC or electric and sticking to it until you are fully confident. This too will keep the costs down as each power system will require different bits and pieces to get you going. Yes thats the one you have linked too and from a good supplier too. Where are you based ? Have you many clubs nearby? Before you decide on radio you would be wise to see what the club instructor use, all clubs are different and a 20 minuet chat will save hassle at a later date. I too agree with the sims not being too realistic flight dynamics wise, but you cant beat them for learning what way to move the sticks according to the position of the model. J...
  23. Quite a few in our club myself included use Tower pro servos and we have no complaints , they probably all come from the same factory. Geoff you have ruined the weather with all your glue & balsa action, ever since its been windy! so then we discover slope soaring and it just keeps on raining
