  1. Does the balsa surface need to be prepared, or can the doculam be ironed directly onto the raw balsa? VERTI-GO SIDES OFFSET.HEIC
  2. Rich, Thank you for the reply. If you see no particular difference between the Whippet and the Whippeteer, I'd tend to go with the Whippet, as the construction looks easier and more forgiving of abrupt descents to terra firma. By how much is the plan undersize? I guess that I could figure that out by looking at the stated length of the blades. I live in a suburb of Boston, Massachusetts. Ned
  3. I have been building and flying R/C planes for many years, mostly with success. I have never built or flown an autogyro. I have Whippit plans and a Revolver II short kit with rotor head fittings. Would it be advisable to wait for the Whippitear? I am in no hurry. I do not believe that there is anyone local who can assist me in trimming or figuring how to fly an autogyro.
  4. How about an article on torsion springs for pull only control surfaces? No slop around center, light weight. What diameter wire for different control surfaces? How long is the torsion leg?Is the C bend all in one plane, or offset? At what airspeed does blow back overcome the torque of the spring? The DLG glider folk seem to use this technique a lot- others much less so. How much extra current drain is there from the servo having to constantly work against the spring whetn the contol surface is at neutral. What are the pros and cons for rudder, elevator, aileron, and flap using this approach. I'd love to see a well-witten aritcle covering this information.
