  1. Well done 'bucksboy'! Sound very similar to the set-up we're about to use... I've a old iphone 4, with a unlimited data SIM card, and wired to a large car battery... we've worked out that this will keep the phones battery topped-up with power for a few weeks without the need if a solar panel, but we have one also just in case. The phone is transmitting 24/7 its video to a website called Manything, via an app installed on the phone. This is a free video hosting service that records 30 days worth of footage in very high def. We then just give our members the web link to view it.
  2. Hey everyone.. got a question to throw out there and hopefully greater minds than mine will come up with an answer! My flying clubs airstrips/fields are quite isolated and remote... we have no mains electric power or telephone land-lines. What i'm after is a solution to getting a series of still images (snap-shots) of the clubs airfield on to the clubs website... remotely. I know there are a few apps out there that will allow a iPhone to be used as a remote camera, and you then log into a website to view the images, but all seem to fall short on some specific critera I require. Like I said, the clubs club-house (shipping container) as no power, so the phone will have to be eventually powered from a larger battery source... like a mobile-home leisure battery, and then conected to the internet using either a data-only sim card in the phone or using a mifi... that bit is sorted! What is the problem I so need help with is; I need to set the iPhone to shoot stills only, say at a rate of 1 image every 15 mins and then upload them to a web server/website, also only to take the pics between set times of the day... afterall it's pointless taking pics in the dark, and also that'll use up data. I've had a look at apps such as 'Manything' and 'Presence' and also done a trawl on the web to see if a solution is available, but i've drawn a blank so far. Any body able to help? 4. Weather and girlfriend permitting, I'll be there Steve with my Pitcairn
  5. small, big, bigger... The Typhoon is from my club (Bury Metro MFC), the DC3 is from the LMA, and the Avro RJX is from the Airport! Notice the deck-chairs under the RJX's wing... that's where the LMA chaps hid away from the sun!   Edited By Robert Tomlin on 24/07/2013 22:56:35
  6. ... and a pic of it flying, at last ! Many thanks to all who helped with advice, spare parts, and have bigger balls than me to get it in the air!

  9. Just want to add my congrats to all for a fab event.. even though I was there just the one day (Saturday, and I'm the owner of the 'good looking' Pitcairn and the paraglider) I really enjoyed it all.. and got lots of hints n tips from the veteran gyro nuts!
  10. Might just have to make the trip again.. visited you all for the Autogyro meet at the weekend (I had one of the Pitcairns and a paraglider with me).
  11. Cheers Willowlea ! The organisers of the event have suggested they're trying for early August 2014 for the next one, but no confirmed dates as yet. Soon as I'm told though I'll be sure to let everyone know. See you next weekend I hope at the Bury Metro MFC "If it can fly, get it in the air" event. If you've nothing ready to fly let me know, I'll have one of the clubs IC trainers fettled for ya! Laters
  12. Actually, forget that maybe.. just put a link on the clubs Twitter feed to your flicker page!
  13. Hey Willowlea, yeah good chatting also on the Sunday and looking forward to you joining the club. Can I ask if possible to email me pics you have of the Bury's and the LMA's stands? ([email protected]) cheers!
  14. Cheers David... I've been given the dates for next years Aviation Fair already... so hopefully now everyone can see what a stunning weekend we had, more clubs might think about joining in.. there's plenty of space both outside where we were, and inside the Hangar. If other clubs want to be part of next years event then please contact myself.
  15. Btw before I finally collapse after a full-on weekend at The Avaition Fair, a very big thanks also to RCM&E for contributing a heap of magazines to hand out.. they were soon snapped-up ! And below is a link to Saturdays Dakota fly-past : http://youtu.be/-UgPsxnhw-w
  16. I'll echo Avtur's comments ... this was an amazing weekend. Both days was very busy and my club (Bury Metro MFC) and the LMA had simple hundreds of people asking us about our models. The LMA did a few taxi runs with their DC3 and engine runs of their big Vulcan and the VC10... all up-staged by Manchester Airport being closed for 20 mins yesterday whilst a real DC3 Dakota did a few very low passes of the Avaition Fair.. it was stunning! Lots of other stuff of interest to see also.. classic cars, buses and even trains, a craft centre, lots of aviation bri-a-brac stalls, and all the static real aircraft. Big thanks go to all in my club and the LMA for such hard work in the relentless heat over the full weekend. I've posted a few pics on my clubs Twitter page, http://www.bmmfc.com/events/tweetpage.htm
  17. Hey WilliowLea, yeah I think that's the very same Vulcan! I'll be on duty at one if the two stands Bury Metro will be hosting.. inside the hangar and also next to the RJX aircraft. If anyone wants to join the club whilst they are visiting The Aviation Fair, we can take card payments! Btw, the club website is www.bmmfc.com and you'll find all our contact info there.
  18. Time for a update I think ! Preparations are made and looking like it's going to be an amazing weekend at the Manchester Airport Viewing Park. Although I put out a general invitation for all clubs to join, I'm sorry to report that only my own club (Bury Metro MFC) and the LMA are representing our hobby. But, amongst us we have collected the finest collection of models. I think the public are going to be gob-smacked at the sight of the offerings from the LMA and hopefully will be chomping at the bit to get involved... which is where Bury Metro steps in! We have been allocated space under the tail of Concorde inside the hangar, as well as space outside to put on static and 'moving' displays. What with the dozens of other transport exhibits, the hundreds of stalls selling all sorts of aviation bric-a-brac, and the expected 10,000+ visitors with stunning weather ... it's going to be a busy weekend. See you there !
