  1. Cheers Graham, Yeah i was looking at your flap fitting and i think they'll be going on mine.
  2. Just got the plan for one of these and am wiating for the rest of the cnc'd wood and stuff.Got to have 2 back ops this year so this and my basic 3d should keep me sain while i'm stuck with shuffling about. This threads gonna be real usefull, may need a few what seem like obvious answers along the way though.
  3. Posted by Tom Sharp 2 on 31/05/2012 21:49:55: ASP have a different metal technology than OS. You need to run a gallon or more fuel through them before they give full power. OS give full power from day one. After doing some research on sizes etc it turn out the asp's are quite big and heavy compared to OS.An os fsa 72 is shorter than the asp 61 and a lot lighter.looking at os's web site will swing the right prop happily.so the decision is made,it'll be dearer but worth it in the long run.
  4. Cheers steve,it might be worth my while finding out how much bigger the 70 would be and if theres enough room to fit it in the cowl.
  5. mmmmm the 70's a good bit bigger, that might change the plan slightly.Unless the 61 will swing a 3 bladed 12"/13" prop. The spit hasn't got to be a rocket ship so the next question is will an asp .61 be ok with the above mentioned prop size. Sorry still learning what works with what.
  6. Thanks guys, ones going in a Nijhuis 62" spit, probably a 70 so it'll swing a sensible size looking prop and the others going in the basic 3d kit i won but that plan says it needs up to a 53 2 stroke so i'm not sure what size to get for it.
  7. Can anyone point me in the direction of the right sized 4 stroke for this plane please?
  8. Evening all I'm looking to buy a couple of 4 stroke engines and the price of these compared to os engines looks good but whats the quality of them like? Are they reliable?and do they last well? Cheers Del
  9. Righto. The speedo and abs are linked because the speedo reads the pulses from the abs sensors to calculate road speed. The flicking speedo is actually giving a crude fault code reading (you'll be able to identify the fauult by what numbers the speedo flicks and returns to). As said already it sounds like it's gone into limp home mode. Just so you know i've not long repaird a clio with the same symtoms and it turned out to be an abs sensor at the wheel. 10. Posted by Roger Bird on 19/05/2012 01:22:52: Well done Del, it's a good feeling isn't it, enjoy! Sure is a great feeling Well the ups man has just been and i'm breathing in the fresh wood smell and assesing the project.Just got to clear the work table of the nijhuis sky 120(or slec sky 40 as it's also known) thats awaiting servos and the few finishing touches and the build will begin. Thanks again for the prize Del
  11. EB,how much film would you need? As i have just finnished covering with white solarfilm and have some off cuts i'd be happy to post to you. Del Just measured the biggest bit it's approx 1150 mm x 340 mm. Edited By Del Wheatley on 19/05/2012 19:24:40
  12. sorry ignore the excited typo in the title.
  13. Just had a phone call from Sir David to tell me i've won the basic 3D kit. A huge thank you to David and the magazine,i'm grinning from ear to ear and instead of deciding which model to build next i can move on to deciding which engine etc for my new toy. Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou Del. Edited By Del Wheatley on 18/05/2012 14:22:54
  14. i have taught myself with a west wings beguine and phoenix flight sim.The beguine was a cheap kit with the cheapest servo's etc fitted and not finnished too pretty so i don't get upset when it all goes wrong. It's just been a matter of chuck the beguine in the air,see what happens. Then pay attention to what happened and why, repair any damage and go again. I'm at the stage where i can happily fly around my flying site going where i want to and not where the plane decided we were going lol. I'm lucky because i work from home and live at my flying site so finding the time to fly,fix then fly again comes easy. mmmm,it's sunny and not windy.Think i'll start work at 12 and go flying. Have a good day Del
  15. oops i should have said that i want to build it (thats more fun than flying) Just looked at the acrowot,it looks the job but it's got foam wings or do they do a version that is completely build yourself?
  16. Evening all I'm after suggestions for a first low wing kit.I'm looking for about a 60" wing span and a tail dragger. It's going to be ic with a 4 stroke up front. I've been learning with a high wing trainer on a tricicle u/c so want to move on towards being good enough to fly a nice spitfire. Thanks in advance for any tips Del
  17. Posted by Martyn K on 08/05/2012 10:47:53: Once a biker - always a biker. It's genetic mofification. All that fun changes the genes.. Martyn your spot on Martyn,i'm laying here with a paralised right foot waiting for an op to remove 2 burst dics (racing accident and the last thing left from an a4 sheet of internal injurys) but i've just ordered a 2012 kawasaki zx10r and the parts needed to turn it into a full on national level race bike. pain and breakages are just an ocupational hazard.
  18. Lol CA,i've got the scars from an impromptu brick and wood stunt ramp. when i came round i had a chopper brake lever imbeded in my back but i never learnt and went back for more. That perfectly placed gear lever was a killer.
  19. f3 tomohawk is the only cast wheel bike i can remember cos i had one.
  20. I use a lot of forums at the moment due to being stuck in bed due to an accident. I have problems with only 2 sites, this one and one bike site(but the bike mag site doesn't hide content away for subscribers only). The similarity between the two are that they are both linked to magazines so mainly look after the advertisers cos thats where the money is and the users play second fiddle.

  22. I like to build my own stuff from kits,i enjoy the building more than flying. I only started in the hobby about 6 months ago,so far i have a half finnished nijhuis sky 40 and a west wings beguine that i threw together so i could teach myself to fly. I am going to get an artf because my nephew has shown an intrest in flying not building(yet). So i will let him have a go and see how he get on with it.
  23. i've found quite the opposite to you Baz,but then i suppose it's all relevant to the other hobbies i have, bike racing (serious money pit) and shooting. I've found the rc world very good,a couple of quid for odd bits and peices up to a couple of hundred quid for rx and tx,but thats aceptable as i have 7 channels so the out lay will be spread over lots of different models. Beats £600 quid for a mag/alloy front wheel cos it got dinged in a tiny crash or the ££££££ for must have engine parts made of unobtanium that will be out of date mid season and will need more £££££ to keep up the pace.
  24. I,m getting the same message as Ausferret when i click weiw sample. I'm running windows 7 with firefox as the browser. Edited By Del Wheatley on 23/04/2012 00:01:53
