  1. David , in the 30 or so years have been watching badgers they have never shown any signs of aggression towards our cats. They do nudge and argue with each other but not too seriously . They do rank in pecking order above foxes and when food is on offer foxes will not challenge badgers for it. Our cat has been chased a few times by foxes and people in neighbouring roads have lost cats to foxes. Our cat sometimes makes the mistake of appearing / moving behind foxes and that often promotes a chase which Sammy has so far won but only just. Something did bite Sammy recently which cost our £160 at the Vets , but we suspect the culprit was next door's cat.. I am not getting the friendly badger visits now, and only Fox Cub visits now, the Mother Vixen has disappeared. Thanks for the bun ! A mistake !   Edited By Mike Etheridge 1 on 08/01/2021 16:37:25
  2. Yes David that's our cat Sammy next to badger. Would you believe there was virtually no conflict between our cat and badgers in the past. The same applies to foxes once you feed them. When we first got our cat 10 years ago he was inclined to try and chase away foxes and badgers but soon realised he was wasting his time. There is plenty of conflict between Sammy and the cat that lives next door. More pictures : Dog Fox with Tonky     Edited By Mike Etheridge 1 on 07/01/2021 17:00:19
  3. Derek, a couple of photos of the wing instructions are below:
  4. Peter, I have just checked with my nephew, who has not flown control line or RC planes for a few years, that he still has some C/L models. He confirmed that due to his move north his C/L planes are not in good condition. They include the fuselage for an Aerostar, a Nobler, a Spectre (kit bought by me in 1976) and some combat models. Before he moved North he with others picked up the Aerostars from Jim Caroland's garage and flew them at Sandown Park. When he moved North the majority of the Aerostars were kept by others including speed record holder Paul Eisner who I sometimes see at Epsom Downs. He is interested in obtaining the plan of the Aerostar wing so I gave him the information on this blog. He knew nothing of the fly-away at Wembley but would have only been 14 at the time. I can remember the Sandown Park show which was on the Saturday prior to the Cup Final at Wembley on the Sunday. (Or was it the following Saturday ?) However I was amazed at the Combat show at Sandown Park with the two teams and planes in corporate identity, one team in red the other blue, and several planes in the air at once. When I sat down to watch the cup final I was almost speechless when the planes appeared, and what a spectacle!
  5. Derek, I have got a set of drawings that were included with the second hand Cub I have just refurbished. There are instructions with sketches for both 'built up', and foam /hardwood wings plus aileron installation details. However there are no full size plans so I am not sure they were ever included. As the printers are likely to be closed I cannot get the plans copied at present, but I can scan the instructions and sketches if you want them?
  6. Robin, when they flew the Aerostars for the last time at Sandown Park my nephew was one of the flyers and did in fact acquire some of the Aerostars which he may still have ?. I did meet the chap who organised the original displays including the one at the Wembley Cup Final, and he explained that with the safety and insurance issues that crept in it made it too difficult to arrange future contests. He told me that even Jimmy Greaves wanted to 'have a bash' at flying C/L at Wembley !.
  7. There is a Control Line club that my nephew Nigel belonged to called the 'Three Kings Club'. They used to fly at Three Kings Mitcham, but more recently they had a tarmac circle constructed on the Croydon Airport site where I flew once. I assume they still exist?. Nigel who moved north was also a member of the Bartons Club and used to fly regularly at the Nationals up to about 2006. 8. Err DD, not until she has a new fitted kitchen.  Edited By Mike Etheridge 1 on 26/12/2020 20:29:33
  9. I ordered a Tundra over a year ago. Unfortunately it was delivered to our front door and my wife accepted it but could not believe I had bought another plane. So I stuck it in my loft with the other planes, some made up and some not, and I have virtually forgotten about it since . Thanks for the reminder, a club member reckons it's a great plane and one you can leave made up in the car and fly at a moments notice.
  10. DD, I did when I was in my thirty's bought a two bed maisonette and installed a fitted kitchen, new bathroom suite , rewired the place plus full decoration. Someone else did the central heating. That only took me 4 years!--- My wife has just spent more on the new cooker than you did on your refurbishment and my son has just had a new extension with kitchen and diner built for about £85K with very posh Howdens cupboards. Well done with your kitchen refurbishment but I would never get away with it, plus at my current age I am beginning to hate DIY especially after yesterday! My wife is already cooking sausage rolls in the new low down cooker ! Merry Christmas!
  11. Thanks David, I just wonder when that time will be as both my flying clubs are effectively shut down at present ? I must focus for now on Christmas and yesterday had a torrid time fixing in a new cooker as the old obsolete electric cooker main oven had failed. The new cooker would not fit under a dodgy gas pipe serving a gas hob so I have finished up with the new cooker set temporarily at a lower level. What a year !
