  1. Shute's "Trustee From The Toolroom" is another good read. As are most if not all his writing.
  2. This makes facinating reading and well done to all. There are definite echos of the Apollo 13 incident and I'm certain it will end just as well!! I wonder if we could get a movie out of it.
  3. Tom, re the iron, if you wrap a piece of clean cloth, hankies are ideal if you can find one in this Kleenex age, around the sole of the iron it will keep it mostly clean and mishaps can be carefully cleaned off with some thinners. Alternatively, scrounge around family and friends and you will probably find that someone has an old iron that heats up Ok but doesn't steam or "smells funny" that you can take off their hands. Practice with the heat setting before you use it for real.
  4. I've built/flown/crashed/repaired/flown more than one Super Sixty over the years and am currently rebuilding yet another fuselage to go with an aileron wing!! I think its a terrific model. One thing that I've started doing is to sheet the fuselage back to the rear wing dowel with very light, if you can get it, 1/16th ply. It makes a strong box up front but you still have the nice lattice work down the back.
  5. So Bob, you've connected the carb to a vent tube too!! I wonder if there are more than just the two of us but no one else willl admit it. Not the problem in this case though and I have checked again. The clunk is also waving around quite freely. I'm using a 4oz tank, the blue one, and the feed nipple more of less is in line with the carb.
  6. Thanks for all that and apologies for not responding but I've been taking advantage of the beautiful weather. The reason I asked was that I've installed an OS 26 inverted and in an attempt to make things easier I've built a cradle to hold the model inverted while starting. The engine is still difficult to prime and start but then dies after a few seconds when turned the right way up.
  7. What are the reccomendations about running a small 4 Stroke inverted. Will it run reliably? Thanks in advance.
  8. Thanks for the good wishes, much appreciated, but I think, not 100% sure, it's actually; Beannaithe na Feile Padraig. Anyway regardless of the grammer the message is the same, enjoy the day. Slante to all.
  9. Sorry about that. Will do in future.
  10. Yes, I suppose the price kinda gives it away.....
  11. I found this, Reality craft at rcmodelcentre, following another thread re. the supplier, rcmodelcentre. I'm considering investing in a Sim and would be interested to hear other people's experience of this one.   Edit:- To tidy up hyperlinks. Edited By Chris Bott - Moderator on 07/03/2012 16:14:01
  12. A Twin Otter or a C-130, what an excellent idea. Maybe a BN Islander, a Skyvan or if you want to go the EDF route a Learjet. There are many great options out there that aren't warbirds and yes, I would build it if it were interesting.
  13. An electric Rapide please, or a Dragon to avoid the tapered wingtips. I think we've had enough Warbirds.
  14. Hopefully the Editor is reading this and will comment.
  15. Watching this from the sidelines I feel that I have to comment. I was a subscriber to RCM&E for many years, still have them all, until it became so trade orientated that it just wasn't worth the money anymore. That said it has improved considerably over the last 12 - 18 months and now I buy it when there's something I want to read. I have subscribed to QEFI for the past three years and feel that it trys to cater for an area of the hobby that is considered something of a "poor relation". However it doesn't always succeed and some of the content can be a disappointment. The one thing that QEFI has over other Mags that makes it worthwhile is Chris Golds as a contributer.
