  1. right ok i went into model zone today to look at some toy cars, and i see they are selling these 1ft span planes, and on the box is 27mhz, i thought 27mhz was surface only, i asked a member of staff and he had no clue about anything at all, so whats the score on this??
  2. thanks alan at least i know the maker, and are these lil ones rare, as i always see g marks on ebay with them saying there rare?.... the heads only about the size of the end of a glow starter tiny, it gets hot and sizzles but no bright glow, should i heat it up then put it in a tub of fuel to see it that will degunk it? want to see this running before it goes
  3. ok its a g-mark then but its not going to be a 030, is going to be either a 020 or a 010 as it is tiny next to my testors mcCoy 049 that i have the original tank for aswell, i will put a pic up of my 049 collection that i have, i have a few old usa made cox's one is a black widow in a sorry state, all with diffrent cylinders, i will be selling most of them soon
  4. i have had this a while and have no idea who makes it or what size it is, i think its a 010 as its a tiny lil thing and smaller than my 049 coxs it goes to a point at the bottom and just has a r stamped on it
  5. right now this is where i stand, i buy expensive tools because you will save in the long run, in time and money spend once enjoy forever, not spend 3 or 4 times and replace every year or so, i have a set of marple chisles that i got given when i was younger, these things are the rolls royce of tools and have never let me down, mind you my perma grit stuff is expensive but well worth it for the job they do
  6. just dont think she can handle married life, but time will tell if we can sort it out, plus she says me building planes all the time is anti social as i lock myself away and build things, of yeah the cessna is dead so is my trainer and my cl planes are aswell,so i have nothing to fly now great!
  7. so yeah after 2 months the wife kicks me out, so now is the hard part do i sell my engines to get a bit of money, or do i keep hold of them hmmmmm i have a few now... os20 fp bench run in box like new enya 19-v 4005 in box ex con needs new nva enya 19-vi 4006 in parts as front bearing went (boat) no carb cox black widow needs new tank back plate 2 other vintage made in usa cox's and a unknown 0.020 with tank front induction not a cox and a testors mcCoy 049 needing needle so what do you think i would get?
  8. i have lead solder as i have a 500g roll from the early 90s, and a roll of fine tin solder and they are so so so much better than the lead-free stuff, plus i flow work mine with a mini blow torch, works so much better when doing work with piano wire.
  9. yeah xena on ebay are the official suplier now, as i need spares the tank is kaput! and the piston needs resetting, so i am going to get the tool for doing that aswell. and am going to enjoy it have always loved these angry wasps, have seen a in-line 4 and a radial 5 all made will cox engines, would love to get the plans for one, hmmmm drawing time
  10. ok i have just got what i think is a black widow, it even has the big screw on spinner and under it was a lil red spinner, and it has the 2 bypass ports, is this a rare one? and whats it worth in a ok state
  11. i am keeping an eye out in kent and sussex have a few friends that are wheeler dealers in all trades on the look out aswell, and it seems they where stolen to order not spur of the moment, i have a security back ground and thats what it looks like to me
  12. ok in the last 2 days i have got 3 cox 049's 2 have built in tanks and props, one has a nice spinner, and one has normal backplate and a ok cub 049 with tank and prop all for £21.50 , all need to be cleaned up a lil bit but am well chuffed haha
  13. 1. dished piston 2. tapered piston 3.dished and tapered am going to try with std head and with a head conversion with std and long reach plug. then maybe change port timing a small amount and maybe some lightering of moving parts. just want to try diffrent things with engines, oh yeah might be getting a alu piston and titanium pistons made for me aswell by my big brother
  14. oh, i like the mcCoy and are they really that bad??.......and i am getting a nice order together from xena of cox engines, i am going to do some very odd mods to them that i have found in some old aeromodeler books, i am going to buy a few spare pistons as they aint to expensive....... as for ep i aint really a fan, i like oily hand saturdays ads
  15. where would i get plans for this plane? i have a mcCoy 049 ready to put in a plane , really getting back into my free flight and c/l planes
  16. just thinking about it, can you messure the needle for me please, i need to know the length of the needle from tip to the end of the taper, and the thickness of the needle itself, hmmmm the wifes sewing box is in my mind hehe i like trying new things out
  17. oh yeah would a cox 049 carb work on this?? and the cox heads are smaller aint they??
  18. ok my needle is made from piano wire atm, in a section is small dia fuel tube with some lock wire to hold it in place, and yeah the council around here are useless, and i am about 1km from the paths and houses, there are trees all around the park that are 60-70ft and then there are trees behind the houses, so the noise is not heard i make sure i got the wife to walk up to meet me and she couldnt here my enya 19-v running, and that thing is loud! and thanks for the prop size i will order a good amount of them as i will be getting more ,049's i have the spring starter on mine that works now, friends dad used to make wind-up toys so got him to check it out and make sure it wouldnt break, and am going to buy a head as i will mess it up making one :/
  19. i love the little thing, and want to convert the head to take a glow but been told there are sites that sell them :/, but they are like £12, and i love the noise and i go to a public park and go right to the back and no one can hear me... i cut down a 9x6 prop to about 4 inches just so i could start it, but what size dose this lil diamond take?? or should i just get a cox 5x3??
  20. won one for £7 on ebay, was missing the needle so i made one up until i can find a new one and decide to look in the engine as it was very stiff to find a castor gunk plug in the cylinder and the head was caked aswell, couldnt even see the element soaked it over night in some glow and wiped clean, cut a prop down to fit, and gave it a few flick and it starts am in love want more of these lil beauties now
