  1. I brought the HobbyZone super Cub LP the other week, but only had a chance to get two early evening flights in and as it was my 1st plane and 1st flight, taking off was a waist of time and somewhere along the way I must of messed the trim up because on the 1st hand lanch the plane banked round right into a tree... D'oh! Lucky no damage and I managed to trim it an got a few semi good flights and sort of controlled landings. The 2 day was even better and I found out my Tx had the rudder in reverse mode so switching that back to normal really helped me fly better. lol
  2. The USB port that your plugging your Tx into emites a small amount of power constantly, just like when you connect your mobile phone to your PC you can send data and get a trickle charge at the same time Pete, funny you say about the Spekky has to be switched off because when I brought mine and was wondering why the SIM wasn't working until I read the instructions and switched off my Tx.
  3. Good to hear the Multiplex is working out well for you.. funny you say about flying into a tree as I did this not once but twice today 1st time did no damage, 2nd snapped the wing but I've glued it back together and weather permitting will be flying tomorrow and staying well away from those pesky tree's hopefully
  4. Wow I've seen other videos like this which is very sad, so great to see the plane will fly again, good going on the repairs
  5. only been into flying for a short while, but had plently of brushless motors in my RC cars and buggie and never had any fail. I'm sure someone else above made a good point the choice of ESC is more important and I second that
  6. Hi Myron, I wish you well and hope everything gets back to normal for you soon; It sounds like you got a good plan now of prepping your current planes and a few small steps back to building and flying. Best wishes Jeff
  7. I've not given up on the plasterboard or building my Super 60, but I have brought another plane; a HobbyZone Super Cub which binds to my radio gear and I thought I would get some experience without getting too hacked off with having to rebuild the balsa plane that is taken a while to come together.
  8. I am new to flying and just brought a HobbyZone Super Cub to learn to fly but it has to be a very calm wind to fly being a foamy. I had orignally planned to fly the Ben Buckle Super 60 which I am still making but I thought I would be more hacked off if/when crash landing and having to repair the balsa Super 60 after all the hard work and time of building it. The Super Cub is only 3 channel were as the Super 60 is the 4 channel option and I am building that electric powered too. Best of luck on which ever you choose to start with
  9. thanks Allan, its good to know that I haven't made a bad choice I see so many hobbyzone planes about I thought I'd go for it. I'd guess that the anti crash is more of a flying aid and will not stop me crashing but help me while I'm learning. It's not my first plane although I think it will be the 1st one I fly as I am currently building a super 60 but fearing the worst I didn't want to have to rebuild it after the 1st flight lol
  10. HI Securityman, I agree with what Andrew and others have said you defaintly want to get one that will fit in with your needs and feels good. I have had a few futaba sets that I have been very happy with and I recently got a Spektrum which seems OK, problem free and there is a lot of models that will bind with it out of box.
  11. I have found out the hard way with my building board that it's not the best and maybe my fault using too much ZapCA too. Got a little carried away with gluing and the next day when I came to take the fuselarge off the board a fare bit of the board broke away still stuck to the plane so had to do a lot of sanding to sort that mess out. Been really busy with work which took me away from building my super 60 but back to it this week and hopfully will have it looking like a plane soon enough. Think I will invest in a propper board
  12. I very nearly brought one today as I also think it is a nice looking plane and the A3SX system was something that interested me being a newbie to RC planes... But ended up going for the HobbyZone Super Cub LP which also has some sort of anti crash system on it too. Have I made the right choice, has anyone in here had the hobbyzone super cup and what do they think about them.
  13. Hi Ernie, I am using a ceiling plaster board that is as big as my kitchen table and easy enough to stick pins in, it was a pretty cheap building board at around £4 from B&Q. I was looking at waxing the plans, but lucky I work at a General Dynamics/MoD site with CAD people so scanned and printed the plans then use tape on the bits I'm gluing. Thanks Steve, I have been looking through them all and picking up a few great build tips and modifications that I will be trying And thank you for the info Richard I will call Alan and see you sometime soon J Cheers Jeff
  14. Hi Chris, I am doing my Super 60 Electric but might make my next plane a 4 stroke. The motor I have is an Overlander T3536/5 which is 650WATTS Kv1450, 40A ESC and will be using a JP 40A Electronic Speed Controller and power it with a 3S Lipo. Use to have a lot of Futaba gear with my old Morley Carbon Heli that I sold on years ago so recently brought Phoenix flight sim which included a Spektrum DX5e so will be using that for now with Spektrum digital Servos and 2.4GHz receiver Thinking that I would like to stick with nylon and dope at least on the wings and tail but maybe use a nice bright iron on film for the fuselage keeping away from any nightmares that would happen with me and paint. was going to check out Andy Greens Super 60 thread and then start on putting the two side of my fuselage together Cheers Jeff
  15. Thank you all for the warm welcome :D Hi Richard, I see you didn't migrate to fare then RWB; I have checked out the Swindon Model Areo Club and was defiently thinking of popping along some time soon. I was going to wait until I have finished building my Super 60, but thinking it would be great to meet your club members and get a bit of advice and build tips if that was OK. Hi Ernie, although I love the classic look and feel of the Super 60 and might go with a 4 stroke on the next one I build I have started with the idea that electirc is a little easier to start off with and less mainntenance. Cheers Jeff
  16. Hi Everyone, I am a newbie to this site and the RC Plane hobby; I've had all sorted of RC vehicles and enjoy the building just as much as getting out there using them. I just brought a Ben Buckle Super 60 and searching for tips come across this site and looks to be a very friendly helpfull place. Cheers Jeff
  17. Hi Chris, I'm not just new to the forum but new to RC planes and just brought a Super 60 a few weeks. So finding your build blog has answered some questions already as I was a bit confused with the a few bits in the instructions. I will be referring to your pictures and build tips along on the way. Your plane looks great and the extra bit of strenght seem a very good idea for me to copy even more so as a newby to the hobby I am dreading speanding all the time and effort of making it only to all break apart on my 1st landing lol. Cheers Jeff
