  1. I thought I had posted my thanks to all on Sunday, but that post hasn't appeared for some reason. I would still like to say how much all the responses were appreciated. I have now upgraded to 2.1.9 but had to do it in bootloader mode which raises another question. Do I always have to disconnect the battery to get out of bootloader mode?
  2. Thanks for the replies. I'll give it another try.
  3. I have just tried the obvious of disconnecting the battery and it is now back to normal. I may just leave it at 2.1.6!!
  4. I have attempted to update my recently purchased 9D Plus 2.1.6. I downloaded the Open Tx Companion and switched into Bootloader mode, connected the USB cable and now the Tx just shows USB Connected. I cannot switch the Tx off and my laptop just says USB device not recognised. Help! What can I do to fix it? Sorry if I have been a bit vague, but I am in a bit of a panic!
  5. Just checked again and it is for 2017. Thanks.
  6. I can't find any dates for model events at Old Warden this year. Does anyone have any info please?
  7. Just received my second pair. I ordered the second pair one size smaller so I could wear them comfortably without the lining. Both pairs are now a perfect fit, one with and one without the lining. These are amazing value and the quality is second to none.
  8. I've just received my pair. What fantastic gloves they are and very quick delivery by first class post. Highly rec ommended.
  9. A couple of days ago I heard acouple of heavy jets overhead and could make out one B-52 through the haze heading South-West at around 15,000ft. Couldn't see the second one, but assume it was another B-52.
  10. I did replace the tubing in mine with some genuine Dave Brown tubing, but it's still quite stiff to operate. Perhaps somebody knows of a softer tubing which might help.
  11. I flew a Stanley Craftsman made largely from cardboard for many years and got my BMFA A and B certs with it. My only "cheat" was to replace the folded cardboard ailerons and elevator with balsa as I couldn't stop the cardboard ones from twisting. It was a bit heavy by modern standards but flew well enough. I still have the airframe but haven't flown it for a very long time!
  12. I used to use talcum powder when running 35 mHz aerials through long fuselage tubing. This should work on sticky snakes assuming there is no underlying restriction. Just dust a little powder into your hand then draw the snake through the powder. It worked for me.
  13. I agree with the !00% rudder/aileron mix. I use it on a three channel DB Tinker.
  14. Couldn't get to either of Sunday's displays, but her planned route passed just a few miles away from my home, so 4.30pm saw me parked in a lay-by with a few other hopeful enthusiasts. Flightradar24 showed her heading our way at around 2500ft and sure enough she appeared with the Skyvan photo ship. To our initial disappointment she was heading a bit North of our location, but then she turned towards us and did two circuits right in front of us, one with the bomb doors open! We couldn't believe our luck. Thanks to the crew for giving us our own private display
  15. I just found out that SM Services have ceased trading due to retirement. I am very sorry to hear this as I've had quite a few of their products in the past and had no problems until now! The power pack for my Battery Master, which I must have used regularly for at least 20 years, gave up the ghost last night. I went on the website to find that I was 24 hours too late and they'd just closed.
  16. Many thanks for the building jig. Must be the first thing I've ever won!!
  17. Any of the items would be much appreciated.
  18. My "incident" occurred on the one and only occasion when I had my mobile phone in my pocket. This is something I never normally do and will not do again! I contacted HH and explained what had happened. They said that it was not possible for the problem to be caused by a mobile phone but that I could send the Tx in for a check if I wished.
  19. I had a very similar experience with my DX6i a couple of years ago I had done all the usual checks and flown one model without problems. I then flew two other models using the same Tx, again without problems. I then came back to the first model. Switched on, waggled the sticks (I had already done my usual detailed checks for the first flight so assumed all would be as before) all the surfaces moved so I launched it, but it didn't seem to respond to the controls and did a wingover into the ground. It wasn't too badly damaged and on checking it I found the ailerons reversed. All other controls were OK except that I'd had a small (8%) rudder/aileron mix active which had now become 100%! I checked all the other model memories and found just one with only the rudder reversed. I haven't had any further problems since then but I now do my detailed checks before EVERY flight.
  20. I'd like a chance to win something please!!
  21. I'd like to be in with a chance please.
  22. I fly both I/C and electric models. I like the convenience of electric flight, but don't feel that I've had a "proper" flying session until I've flown a couple of I/C powered aircraft
