  1. The latest update released, V3.1, has rectified the problem.
  2. The failsafe is in the rx but the tx sends a signal to the rx to let it know the failsafe position. It worked fine before I installed v3 software update.
  3. Since updating my 18SZ tranny to V3 software I have had a problem setting the throttle failsafe position when using the TX in FASST 7. There was no way to set the throttle failsafe! I found a work round by temporarily changing the TX setting to FASST Multi, setting the throttle faulsafe position, then changing the TX back to FASST 7. This worked perfectly but it should not be neccessary to do this. There is a glitch in the software in V3 which Futaba must fix.
  4. I saw the converter on the Ripmax website but did not see any mention of 8FG so I transferred all model settings manually (10 of them!) to my 18SZ. At least it gave me time to become more familiar with the 18SZ. I made sure to copy the trim positions over. Maiden flights with the new system went well with little or no adjustment of the trims required.
  5. 1. Mini Jazz 2. Swamp Rat 3. Super Slinky 4. Dawn Flyer 5. Chilli Breeze
  6. The fact that the Rx did not go into fail-safe and showed the red light seems to indicate the binding was lost. When you cycled the receiver power it rebound itself; to me this would indicate that the power to the Rx had been lost. This could have been due a slightly bent pin on an y of the connections between the battery and rx, including the one on the battery itself. If the "cycling" of the Rx battery involved disconnecting and reconnecting any the aforementioned connections a better connection could have been made and you would be unable to replicate the fault. I had a similar fault with a 35MHz set ten years ago.
  7. You are spoiled for choice Braddock! Given the choice you have I would go for the Saito82. I have been flying a Wot4 ARTF for about 18 months, adequat power with an Irvine 46, better with an Irvine 53 but if I had a Saito 82 doing nothing I would definitely have used that.
  8. Great Pic John! Glad you dusted off the original and took a photo of the three models together. As you say the original looks tiny compared to the 3X model. I will give some thoght to building a 2X rather than the 1.5X. Incidently my original model was powered by an ED Baby 0.46cc. I still have the engine but not the model.
  9. I went all nostalic when I viewed John Laird's album . As a teenager I built a Mercuty Mallard and also a Mamselle in 1956 from the Dec 55 Christmas free plan in the Aeromodeler. I have the 1.5 times Mamselle free plan set aside to build some time. I feel now that I must build it soon. Well done John!
