  1. Thanks for the advice Dave, I will get one of the very experienced members of my club to check it over for me and give it its maiden flight. Cheers Frazer
  2. Thanks Paul, my mail address is [email protected] I'm glad to learn that the Arising Star is a good choice I can't wait to fly it. Your help is much appreciated.
  3. Thanks for the advice Paul. Putting pins in to the centre of the hinge is such a good idea, why didn’t I think of that. I don’t know what I would do without you helpful chaps on these forums. I will search for the Jumper 25 assembly instructions. Cheers Frazer
  4. If its someone's first model it could be a problem. I didn't say it is a problem for me, I just don't think manufactures should get away with shoddy goods
  5. Anyone thinking of purchasing the Arising Star please be aware that Seagull Models no longer glue and pin the Aileron, Elevator or Rudder hinges. The hinges are in position but you have to glue them yourself. On the box it states, Factory pinned and glued control hinges for ultimate safety. I contacted the Model Shop that I purchased it from and they contacted the wholesaler who in turn contacts Seagull who confirmed that they no longer glue them. I believe this also applies to the Boomerang. I was very miffed about this so that’s why I’m posting this warning. Regards Frazer
  6. Hi I’m building the Cirrus Moth 40 and intend to install a servo for each aileron. As I’m new to this hobby can someone please advice me what size I need. There are so many I find it very confusing. Mind you I’m an old chap now so I find every thing confusing. Cheers Frazer
  7. Thanks for your help and advice chaps; I was given an old Radio Queen that’s needs a bit of tidying up. I didn’t have a clue what size elastic bands I needed. Regards to all Frazer Edited By Frazer Simpson on 31/07/2013 20:09:40 Edited By Frazer Simpson on 31/07/2013 20:11:24

  9. Thanks for your help Chris. Its like most things its easy when you know how.
  10. At last I’m ready to put the canopy on my I.C. Whizzza. I have built the removable wing version. Would someone be kind enough to explain how it is attached to the wing and do I have to fabricate something where it butts up against the rear fuselage. Any help will be much appreciated. Cheers Frazer

  12. Many thanks to all you kind chaps who replied to my request for help. I will purchase the electric canopy from Vortex. I was convinced it wouldn’t fit the I.C. version as its .2” wider. That’s solved my problem. I will still try to make one using Grahams method to see if I’m able to do it. If I can I won’t have to worry about canopies ever again. The build quality of the Whizzzza shown on this thread are most impressive.
  13. Thanks Graham, I’m new to RC modelling so I thought making a canopy would be beyond my capabilities. I will give the methods you have kindly informed about a try. It will be sometime before I attempt it but I will let you know how I get on. Many thanks for you help
  14. I’m about to start building the I.C. Whizzza. I contacted a very helpful chap at Vortex who told me that he stocks canopies for the electric version but not the I.C. one. He said that Nigel Hawes has never asked him for a canopy for this version of the Whizzza. (Which is wider than the electric one) Can anyone help please? I would not have purchased the plans and wood pack etc. if I had been aware that the canopy was not available. I have been in contact with My Hobby Store who told me they can’t get one either, and apologized and washed there hands of the matter. So why are they selling the I.C. version, I feel cheated. So anyone thinking of building the I.C. Whizzza beware.
  15. To all who posted a reply to my question. Thanks very much. Thats put my old mind at rest.
  16. Can anyone help please? I’m covering my model with white and red Solafilm. It doesn’t matter how careful I am, I’m getting small smudges of the red Solafilm on to the white. How can I remove these without damaging the surface?
  17. Thanks Peter Now I have look really close at the drawing I can see its degrees. I have the drawing pinned to a wall about 15” away from where I work and from that distance it looked just like the inches sign to me. Do I feel daft, Now you have explained what a washout means I will never make that mistake again.
  18. II see on the wing plan is says, Add 2" washout between last R3 and tip. Where is this measurement please, I'm stumped yet again. Your help will be much appreciated. I posted this query before and as I didn’t get a reply I thought I either sent to the wrong blog or perhaps it’s so obvious I should be able to work it out for myself. I really don’t understand this note can anyone please help. Apart from that its coming along nicely.

  20. On the wing drawing it shows an arrow pionting to the paper tube, it says read text. I can't see any text relating to this tube. Can you please tell me what it says and do you have to make this tube or can it be purchased. thanks Frazer
  21. Hi Ton Thanks for the advice; I wouldn’t have had a clue what to buy without you help. Yes I have just discovered your wonderful blog and it’s given me a fresh impetus. I don’t think I could build this plane without it. Thanks for sharing your vast knowledge with people like me. Regards Frazer
  22. I have shaped the tailplane as suggested and it looks really good now. I have reached a stage where I need to purchase the servos. I’m completely bewildered by huge range available. If someone would kindly advice me what servos I need for what function on the Tailwind I would be most appreciative. I’m leaning towards a Futaba transmitter’
