  1. I checked the BMFA events and the only one listed near me is the Oxford Model Club's free flight sessions.
  2. Not a member of a club at the moment so I just fly small foamies and shockies down the local playing field!
  3. Hi guys, I have myself a new fleet of indoor models (well 2 anyway!) but I can't seem to find any indoor flying events near me. I can't access the forums of the 2 flying clubs near me to ask them (been without a club all year) Can anybody tell me if there is any indoor flying happening in Oxfordshire or maybe even Berkshire? (I live in Didcot) Thanks chaps. Gary
  4. Ah I see! Thankyou very much for you response, I might just try and make one or something similar. Cheers. Gary
  5. Hey guys Does anybody know where I can get one of these from in the UK? I can only seem to see them on US sites. Cheers Gary
  6. I bought an inverza last week to go with my edge540qq (still awaiting its replacement motor/rec) I agree on the quality issues, the wings don't fit well, the wing retaining screw holes don't line up and the undercarriage fell off after a gentle landing! It really does fly very well indeed though! I am no 3d hero but even I can do a whole circuit in knife-edge with ease and the roll rate is ridiculously fast! Its a smoother yet sharper plane compared to the edge 540qq and it looks fantastic!
  7. I just did my first ever sustained prop hang!! Managed to keep it almost dead steady for almost 20 seconds! It was with a Techone Angel slow flyer mind, I tried it with my e flite inverza and just ended up in an over-corrected mess!
  8. I have an idea too if there any left? I got a small 2s power system and a carbon spar from an old foamie power glider, I reckon some sort of Slo-Stick thingy would be funky!
  9. Hi guys, I recenly bought an e-flite edge 540qq and its awsome! however, on the 6th flight the motor made a high pitch squeel and left me with a deadstick! after landing I could smell that horrible electrical burn smeel and the motor and speed controller were epically hot! I am no 3d hero and was ambling about around 3/4 throttle at the time so not sure what happened. I am hoping this can be fixed via the warranty as its less than a week old! the motor feels very stiff to turn and will not run at all, it just judders left/right. Are e-flite having any issues with these do we know? thanks, Gary. (PS, please excuse my lack of paragraphs, the return key doesn't seem to do anything as I type this post!!)
  10. I am extremely lucky where I live! I live 5 mins away from a couple of 360 degree hills called the Whittenham Clumps (near Didcot, Oxon) so no matter what the wind direction, it will be hitting the hill somewhere! I fly an old Falcon kits Sandpiper and an st model ASW-17 up there when its too windy for the flying field. it doesn't matter what the weather outside is like, there is now a model to suit! it its chucking it down or dark, micro indoor heli, if its fine then down to then field, if its too windy then the slopes it is!! sorted!
  11. I bought one of these a few months ago and it flies beautifully. My record is 1 hour and 13 mins on an 850mah lipo. The biggest problem it has (and the sole cause of all the damage inflicted) is that it wont come down! Any breeze on the slope and it just will not land without a fight! It was my first foray into gliders and I have been hooked on gliders since. Anybody looking into getting into gliders should really give this one some consideration. Gary
  12. hey guys, I have a flyfly 2.6m dg1000 power glider that I putting together. It lools a really nice model and from what i've gathered it does the whistle past you a speed thing very nicely which is what I like doing!! Problem is I have no idea what motor to use. If possible I would like to keep it 3s so I can use my existing batteries. The model weighs 1.3kg for reference. Cheers chaps. Gary
  13. hey guys. I am taking on the almighty challenge of learning to fly a heli! I have gone through a load of coaxial helis and latterly a 4 channel fixed pitch heli. All of which were mastered with relative ease. I have made the move to collective pitch with a nano cpx and i just cant seem to keep the thing in the air! Any tips on how to control this thing instead of over-correcting every move it makes would be greatly appreciated!! I am not really looking at moving on to a big i.c heli and becoming the next 3d wonderpilot, but I like the idea of a micro heli to aleviate the boredom of winter (i usually fly fixed wing) I also really like these guys doing crazy flips in their living room with a tiny heli!! Cheers guys. Gary Edited By Steve Hargreaves - Moderator on 29/10/2012 17:14:54
  14. Hi guys! I decided to splash out on a wot4 foam e. If any of you have one, where do you position the battery and what holds it in place? Mine is velcro'd to the right hand side (as viewed from underneath through the battery hatch) but this causes the plane to roll to the ring and needs a fair bit of left aileron/rudder to correct it. Cheers Gary
