  3. Hey guys I have a question? I "destroyed" my 3s 2500 Lipo- yes! I shut down for the night but I forgot to turn off my master switch. The battery therefore drove the receivers and servos right through the night and accordingly flattened one of the cells to where it does not even register on my balancing charger (FMA Cellpro 4s) I now have a need for a 2s Lipo .Can I use my defunct 3s or must I once again assign it to the waste bin? Not the paper bin , mind you. I am quite prepared to take it apart and try to resolder the connections of the remaining cells. That is the two remaining cells register OK on the charger. What do you advise
  4. Hi there to you all! I have a question! I was working on my electric doing some adjustments. When I finished (the phone had gone upstairs) I turned off the Tx but I forgot to pull the master switch on the plane. The electricity from the battery was therefore continuing to flow to the on-board radio gear (and maybe a little residual to the motor ) The plane stayed this way for maybe three weeks or more(lousy weather we've been having down here lately) Net result I had one over-discharged battery (Hyperion Litestorm 11.1V 2500mAh 20C) With not too much optimism I put it back on my trusty FMA charger on less than 0.5 amps with balancing every five minutes. Well slowly the charge came back but only to 88% capacity. Question can I continue to use this battery accepting that I onl;y have 88%of its capacity (and therefore only 88% of its original flight duration) or is it time to recognise my losses and consign it to the dustbin? Appreciate some advice on this? Thanks John C P.S. Haven't heard back from you Allan. Appreciate a call. Thanks
  5. Hiya all! Stop moaning you guys Imagine if your copy of RCME had to travel 16000kms by "Pony Express" You'd be lucky if you got it by Christmas. Whilst I am on the air just like to say Hi to Allan J. Allan did me a really big favour so I would just like to say "Thanks Allan" On a personal note ,Allan, did you get my email today? There seems to be something wrong with your e-mail address -or at least the postmaster doesnt like it,he keeps sending them back. Can you check from your end TTFN2U John C
  6. Sounds good to me! I understand from forum this is a standard aluminium extrusion which should be available down here. If you could let me know your e-mail address we could communicate directly . My e-mail is "[email protected]" Many thanks John Cook
  7. Many thanks to all of you for helping me find a balsa stripper.I have found one. One small problem: the stripper costs 11 pounds -the freight to get it here (New Zealand) costs 52 pounds- as quoted by Balsamart/Blackburn Models. At that price it would be cheaper to come and get it myself. Anyone know of a more reasonable freight service? When you live upside down on the planet you expect to pay a little more but this much???I have freighted many purchases from the UK (clothing shoes model aircraft bits bits for my boat and the like) but never before has the freight cost been so disproportionate to the value of the goods in the shipmentAnyone got any bright ideas? Thanks again for the support from you all. John Cook
  8. Many thanks to those of you who took the trouble to answer my "cry for help" !! I have now tried to contact slec at their website but they are in the process of upgrading their website and have requested our forbearance. Balsamart were much more helpful and I have now ordered a stripper (no, not that kind you fool) from them. Does anyone know where I can get an SLEC buiulding jig from (as featured page 104 April issue of RCM&E) Thanks John Cook
  9. From a relative newcomer to the hobby, does anyone know of a source for SLEC equipment? I am looking for the building jig ( I have tried the Tower Hobbies one) and the balsa stripper. Help would be appreciated. Mantie
  10. Hi guys! I have been searching for sometime now for a a kitset of a Tiger Moth - one that is of sufficient quality that the finished product could be entered in a scale competition. I have seen the finished product of one that would appear to come close to what I am looking for and I am told it is produced by "Flair". I have contacted a major retailer in the UK and this retailer knew of the kit. He was however unable to supply because he said "it was unavailable as the manufacturer had been unable to source a supplier of the wire-work necessary for the kit. Does anyone know where I could get this kit from?
