  1. PS. I found this link useful when building mine, as you will see you have to hack away at the firewall a fair bit with the four stroke installation. http://twokentvillages.org/assets/mmfcforum/view_topic.php?id=33&forum_id=11 You will have to copy and paste, don't know how to do the HERE bit.
  2. You will love the way the Magnatilla flies when you get it finished. After many years away from the hobby I built one covered it with Solartex, very easy to apply and adds a lot of strength, also used a 52 fs eng, it was the easiest and most pleasant flying model I've owned. piled it in last year with wrong model dialled into the tx and reversed ailerons, duh,. its still missed!. The wood bearers are just fine, that's what I used. Good luck, John
  3. Hi Mike, I would do a small test piece if this works OK I would use it. This is just my thoughts based on no scientific knowledge whatsoever . John
  4. Gaz, Thanks for the reply I will do as you recommend. Cheers from Scotland. John
  5. Another issue with this model ( the 125) is UV rays yellowing the the printed graphics, living in Scotland and the weather were having this "summer" I have to be really careful with mine!. Gaz thanks for the heads up on this weak point, I'll be looking at this when I assemble mine. Its sleeping in the loft waiting for my flying skills to improve. John
  6. Posted by kevin goodwin on 11/07/2012 22:19:32: Posted by Martin Harris on 10/07/2012 14:28:13: Don't want to put too much of a dampener on everyone's enthusiasm, but aren't we meant to maintain visual contact (unaided) with our models? 4.2.2 Article 166 – Small unmanned aircraft (3) The person in charge of a small unmanned aircraft must maintain direct, unaided visual contact with the aircraft sufficient to monitor its flight path in relation to other aircraft, persons, vehicles, vessels and structures for the purpose of avoiding collisions. I don't think we should be seen to actively encourage contraventions of the ANO on a public forum! Yawn! C8 Hope that "yawn" is in compliance with the terms and conditions laid down in HMOOBOF chapter 53a para 27/3q..........if not I may have to report you to the regulatory authorities!.
  7. Thank you CS I will look into the "how-to's. Would also like to know what plane that was used in this vid, suspect Ted is a one off!. Sorry didn't want to highjack the thread. John Edited By john s on 10/07/2012 21:21:30
  8. No clouds or rainbows, and I'm sure some rules are broken!, but this is one of my favourite Utube videos.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTDuGaTRiJU John
  9. I'm with Martyn, totally pointless! I want one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! John PS, great videos by the way.
  10. I'm in the final stages of completing an old American kit, a Balsanova 120, that I got on Ebay. I used Solarspan and though it says its not suitable for use with petrol engines, I'm using a DLE20, I am not expecting the airframe to be covered with exhause residue as my glow engined models are so assume that it will be OK,,,time will tell! I think its the film adhesive that is petrol/diesel intolerant not the actual film itself, no expert by the way, just my thinking. As a note to others I found the Solarspan quite difficult to apply compared to Profim it tears easily and does not adhere to itself well at all. John
  11. Nice one Chrisie. Next has to be to fly through a rainbow with the camera pointing down at about 45-60 degrees you will probably be surprised at the resulting photo's! John
  12. I'd go for the Irvine .46 it will power you're trainer fine with a little throttle management, and you will still be enjoying it several models later. I do not have any problems with all the other sugestions people are making, I have a Thunder tiger .46 that I picked up on Ebay very cheap and its a stonking little engine and love it , but boubt its any better than the Irvine. The Jen is a Chinese engine rebadged for just engines, I'm sure they would not sell junk and its probably a good engine,,,,,,but the the Irvine is definately a good engine!. OS make great engines I have a couple of their four strokes that are a plesure to own, but the la is very basic. hope this helps john
  13. I would get a pair of side cutters and and carefully squeeze aprox a 1/4 way into the tail end of the pin about 1/16" from the end, they will never come out in normal use but can be removed if required. as Kavan have done. Cheers John
