  1. Hi just purchased the motor from HobbyKing whilst the motor shaft dia is quoted the prop adaptor info is not given I am sure someone on here will know. Mike.
  2. Guys,, I have a Turnigy SK3 3542 motor to use on this project but surprisingly there is no info on the 'prop adaptor' shaft size and thread. I am sure someone on here can enlighten me?? I have measured the shaft dia to be 6mm. Is the thread M6? or 1/4 unf. I need to know so I can obtain a suitable prop spinner. I an truly amazed this info is not given in the spec. Mike.
  3. Nice build so far, wish I had thought about that ply doubler tip - grooving to insure flexibility. I had quite a job forcing the sides in to meet F2 and F3. Actually you did not need to chop off the excess 3/8" from fuselage sides - you could have glued the 3/8 triangular stock on the inside top edge. A Nigel tip. Mike.
  4. Hi Robin, I am going to glass my wings using light weight glass fibre and PolyC, reason my theme is to be the 2013 B of B scheme hence a painted finish. I don't think film takes to enamel very well especially painting by hand. Question: 14g Torque rods what is the thread on the end M2 or 8BA? Mike.
  5. Hi all - where can I obtain a 50mm aluminium prop spinner suitable for a 5mm shaft. Motor SK3 3542 1250kV Some 5 years ago a chap in the UK started to make these and advertised in RCMandE I purchased one and they were very good quality but no longer have any info. Hopefully someone on here can remember. Mike. Edited By Mike Hardy on 11/04/2013 19:20:06
  6. Aileron end gaps: CNC wing panel Aileron end gaps measure just under 2mm each - is this typical? Aileron length - 406.5mm  wing panel aperture - 410mm Edited By Mike Hardy on 09/04/2013 12:07:37
  7. Thanks Phil, a couple of points - the cut out for the servo wires will have to be quite large to accommodate the servo connector. For the 'standard' mini servo the servo bearers should be 3/8 (height) X 1/4 to avoid the servo popping out at the bottom of the centre section. The tongue assy almost extends to the other dihedral brace so it might be easier to to grove the centre section before gluing the braces to the ends. Mike.
  8. Nigel, I have just received your sample balsa grades for the fuselage side and wing panels and comparing with the CNC balsa your fuselage side stock is much softer and is easily flexed with the fingers. The wing centre panel stock is much harder than that supplied with the MHS wood pack. Even the replacement wing panel wood supplied by MHS (to replace my DIY laminated wing panels) is the same soft grade as supplied originally. What this means in practise I do not know. I will send you samples of the replacement wood and the original wing panel centre section stock. In future how do I (a novice) make sure I receive the proper grades of balsa from MHS as specified by the aircraft designer? Mike.
  9. Phil, I can see a way out for the wires and futaba connector by grooving the balsa under the tongue at the servo end but with the servo blocks fitted to the tongue assy the servo would have to enter the cutout vertically - I think! Mike.
  10. Phil, I am making the ply parts for your wing centre section wing mod. The ply tongue assy has a cutout to take the servo so far so good. the servo wires will be underneath the tongue assy when the servo is fitted. I assume the tongue assy is let in to the centre section and glued to it, then how do the servo wires come out of centre section body? I am missing something here, can you enlighten me? Thanks Mike.
  11. Thanks Chris, Another CNC question - nose leg reinforcement ply Two pieces 35 X165 X 1/16 and 1/8 in the CNC pack, The drawing calls for each to be 65 long, where does the rest of the material fit? or is it just to be cut to length? Mike.
  12. Thanks guys, I take it you don't need the antenna stub outside the fuselage? Mike.
  13. Slight change of topic - I am new to 2.4GHz and I am wondering how the antenna is positioned in the fuselage and how is it attached. Some pics would be helpful guys. My system is Hi-tek A9 and corresponding 6ch. receiver. Mike.
  14. What about pinning? - do all you master builders pin with cocktail stick wood? I would think pinning a top surface mounted hinge would be difficult. Mike.
  15. Thanks Nige and Geoff, Now where do you get small pin/ flocked hinges from? Mike. Edited By Mike Hardy on 30/03/2013 15:40:13
  16. Question - Ailerons how many hinges 3 or 4? Best place to mount on the centre line or upper surface? If upper surface I am not sure how to fit the hinges? Thanks guys for any tips. Mike.
  17. Nigel, thanks for your comments, actually I found the wing laminating process the least of my problems although I am not sure about the 'ding' resistance re leading edge. I did receive replacement wing balsa 3/8" stock which I found very soft and certainly not 'graded' as per your earlier comments. To date I have not received any offer to replace the CNC pack and I am sure GA at MHS is aware of all the problems. I intend to finish the project with all the help I receive from the master builders/craftsmen who reside on this forum. Mike.
  18. David, don't refrain from numbers and equations. Us beginners on here rely on you 'teachers' to gain knowledge in this hobby. Mike. Edited By Mike Hardy on 26/03/2013 21:20:12
  19. For Scott Cuppello Hobby King The order Nos 2006417391 and 2006416091 Thanks, Mike.
  20. Thanks all, it would appear I've ordered from Hong Kong yet I was on the UK web site how strange is that - how did I go wrong? No wonder its been 10 days and no delivery. Mike.
  21. I ordered a motor and Li-Po from HK thought I was on the UK site - not sure now. How can I tell from the order which warehouse? I have the tracking numbers. Mike.
