  1. I'm with you Nick. I have a family and not much time!! I taught myself when i was at school. I tried the traditional IC powered (Ripmax) trainer and crashed on first flight. Then I turned to gliders and bungee launching - a revolation. The bungee meant i didnt have to worry about the take off, the gliding was nice and slow and gave me plenty of time to practice etc. Eventually I blew the dust off the Ripmax trainer and i cant describe the feeling on the very first solo flight !!! So, if i were you I would be looking for a nice powered glider to start with, a multiplex easy star for instance. Google it, theres tons of info on them (I have one ). With the standard motor they are sedate and with a brushless motor later on the sky is the limit! http://rcexplorer.se/reviews/page16/page16.html I would also go for a "proper" radio to start with, even a cheaper one. it will save you money. Good luck! ps there's lots of good stiff on the slow stick (post above), however the easy star or similar will fly in most conditions.       Edited By Dickster on 24/07/2012 12:28:44 Edited By Dickster on 24/07/2012 12:30:35
  2. Well done. Youve managed the difficult bit! A standard and then brushless Easy Star followed by a WOT4 foam e would be my choice of follow on planes. And practice time is all you need (harder to get at a club imho)- I taught myself when I was school age and flew most days. Good luck!
  3. Thought i would resurrect this old thread as there do not appear to be any other on this model? I've got a Glen's Extra 1/4 scale (kit) and a 45 Zenoah that I've had for over 10 years untouched, and a 68" Cap (kit) and Zenoah 23 - thought I'd try that before the bigger one! So, now I thought I would buy something to get me started in petrol, and I ordered the Pulse a couple of days ago. I am hoping it will be a perfect match for the 23. Has anyone gone the petrol route with the pulse?
  4. Forget it. I had a bad experience with a club - some are founded and run by unsavioury individuals - who like to run it as their own. I've been flying solo on and off for 30 years (i used to have a mate do it with me but he packed it in). I prefer the freedom, fly when you want etc. I dont want to spend all day socialising and one hour flying - i want to be in the air the whole time - or go home! I find it hard to believe that noone there has a foamie or electric! I'm a reluctant fan (i have a mixture of everything), because there's no denying the convenience of them. Anyway David, their loss.
