  1. Specially for Jo, ignoring the heavy wind yesterday, took the Riot for a spin with the cam mounted on the bottom. It's a bit better, but still a lot of plane in sight. Anyway.     Greetz! T. Edited By CrosstownTee on 04/05/2014 17:44:15
  2. Hey Jo, you're absolutely right. However, in my defence, this was a test flight, and I wasn't too keen on putting the camera in a spot that got buried in the ground last time I flew it... Now I know it's going where I want it to go, I'm quite happy to put it on the bottom, close to the tail wheel, next time I fly it. I also balanced the prop, so hopefully less jello then as well. You're welcome to come and fly here, Roy, but I'm quite sure the field you fly at is a lot more comfortable. I've got trees, lamp- and electricity posts to watch out for, and even 2 lorry trailers parked there at the weekend. It's not really the main road, it's a back road... but definitely not a private tarmac runway (I wish) Thanks for your comments! Tim
  3. After a serious crash last month, I rebuilt the Riot with a couple of (forced) changes. As the battery compartment at the bottom had been completely ripped out, I chose to repair that part without the steel weight. The prop was replaced with a 14" APC version, and the rest was glued, pushed back into place, and so on.. to become something that looks like a Max Thrust Riot again... Yesterday I took it for a test flight, with the thankful scene of a massive thunderstorm coming up to "the flying site" aka the fields just behind our house. I had a blast, flying my most favourite plane again, but mid-flight I got harassed by a gang of wild pigeons, which I only just managed to avoid... After a while the sunlight started to fade quickly, as the thunderstorm was coming closer at a very fast pace. I engaged the flaps, and landed the plane, went inside, and only moments later the rain set in. Well timed... or very lucky I filmed it all with the HK Wingcam 720p, mounted at the back of the plane, just in front of the tail section. Enjoy! Tim. Edited By CrosstownTee on 02/05/2014 11:59:10
  4. Posted by john stones 1 on 07/01/2014 20:53:31: Tim give them a name good for business is it Nitro Flight ? Yes John, it's Nitroflight Models Ltd in Rotherham. If you live in the (wide) area you probably already know them... if you don't, well go see for yourself (although it's been very busy lately, just pop in, you'll see they'll try and take the time to really help you). Michael Wright, I'm sorry I seem to have offended you; that was not my intention at all... I was trying to show my admiration for a very fine (not so very local) model shop indeed, in a bit of a humorous (typical Belgian?) fashion... Sorry Tim.
  5. I think no one here has a right to complain... Just look for the shop you like... and go for it. My LHS (or should I say, (F)avourite LHS) is a cool 7 hours drive from my front door. I usually set off around 23h in the evening, and take the Eurotunnel around 1AM. Then it's off to the London Orbital, grinning at Dartford Crossing as the barriers let me through for free, and cruising on to the M1. After about 2 and a half hour of very early morning M1-ing, I arrive near Parkgate, Rotherham, South-Yorkshire, where I zombie out of the drivers seat, straight into the bed that was neatly prepared for my arrival. In the early afternoon I arise, and just the mere thought of visiting my FLHS, puts me in the best of moods. I grab some toast, have a yukkee coffee (with all due respect, but oh you English know nothing about coffee!), and fly soar float drive to Parkgate, where I enter the jewel I, and I'm quite confident to say I, as only Belgian, discovered a couple of years ago... A small and tidy modelshop with 2 big friendly smiles behind the counter. A chat, a laugh. Some info, lots of experience, a transaction fairly priced, and a goodbye. See you again Roy and Charles, very soon Thank you for being my FLHS, only 650km's (400miles) away.. Tim Edited By Pete B - Moderator on 07/01/2014 21:01:58
  6. Wauw that looks absolutely brilliant Roy! I wish we had stayed a bit longer so I could have witnessed the flight. On photos it looks fantastic, I'm curious what the video will bring. Well done!
  7. Aah, another build! I wish I had some more time to try and compete.. Although... compete... For now it's following your builds with a keen interest. See you soon! T.
  8. Hey Roy, I was apparently looking on the wrong forum (is there another? ) for the build progress... Superb job! I'm very curious to see it live@the shop. See you soon! Tim.
  9. Thanks for the comments Paul, French authorities.. yah, I only saw them checking lorries and vans so far... not mini electric gliders... Ernie, a bit cloudy today, 25°C and winds up to 15km/h; which doesn't hurt after the 32° from yesterday Johnny, that's a Hobbyking wingcam 720p (the first wingcam they issued). I'm quite happy with it. I've been looking to replace it with a Horyzon Hobby FPV cam, which does 1080p and has a bigger dynamic range, but that costs £120 more than this one as well... Greetz, Tim
  10. I regularly see adverts in the magazine with the title 'Fly in France'... Now I finally had the chance, on a holiday south of Carcasonne, Languedoc, France, I understand why you'd want to organize flying here. Around 21h it was still a mild 26°C, with absolutely no wind at all. Fan.tas.tic. The Wild Hawk did have a strange issue with one of the ailerons, and wouldn't trim out nicely, and night was falling really quickly, so eventually I decided to put the plane down, landing only just a couple of inches over the field of sunflowers right onto the grass lawn next to it. Lovely Here's an edit of the flight:   Greetz! Tim Edited By CrosstownTee on 19/08/2013 07:02:48
  11. Ooh nice one Chris, I'll definately have a look underneath that cowl! Thanks! Tim
  12. Update: In the meantime I crashed the Riot (lightly), I'll have to repair the battery box, but that gives me the opportunity to make it slightly larger to fit (normal) 4S batteries. (Mine didn't fit).   A friend of mine came over 2 weeks ago to film, this is the edit of the flights of that day, enjoy:   Greetz! T. Edited By CrosstownTee on 29/07/2013 06:32:01
  13. Ooh that's great! I've got a 4S 2200 for my Durafly Corsair (upgraded), I'll see if I can fit it in the battery compartiment of the Riot... Nice! thx! T.
