Hello all. HELP! Several years ago, in a fit of madness, I bought an Horizon Glimpse XL drone from Maplins, which went into receivership shortly afterwards. It works just fine, but I have now got a new 'phone, the old one having been destroyed between the car and the boot lid! I now find that, having emailed Horizon, the app to run the camera no longer exists and is no longer supported by Horizon. I've looked on well known internet sites for a replacement, without success. Can anyone help? Happy landings. Roy

Thank you, Martin and Piers. Lots of food for thought while I am away on holiday. Roy

Me again! Maybe the attached pictures may be of help. Please excuse the chaos in the background.

Hi, KC and Don. Thanks for the advise and links. There is a very good chance that the model is from the Berkeley plan. The only reason for suggesting a 2 piece wing is because I have never liked securing the wings with elastics. It would be easy to leave it as 1 piece and modify it to a 'tab and plastic bolts' system! I would, however, like to have ailerons. At 70 inches, it would fit in the car easily. The present dihedral is 4.5 inches at each wing tip - quite excessive, I think. I'll take some photos in a while. Happy landings. Roy

Thanks for the input, Gents. I've re-measured the aircraft. Wingspan is 70 inch and the constant cord is 11 inch. I'm going away for 5 weeks in a couple of days but I will try to photograph the offending article before I go. Roy

I've acquired a 68ish inch Piper Cub which has yet to be maidened! It is clearly made from a kit but I have no idea who the designer or producer is. It has a one-piece wing without ailerons and the wing struts are missing. Does anyone have plans which I can buy or copy in order to construct the struts and convert it to a two-piece wing. Happy landings. Roy

Hello one and all. Regular readers will remember that I sought a muffler/ silencer/exhaust for a MVVS 300 recently. The idea crossed my mind to build my own. Using a similar item as a guide, I finished the construction. I intend getting it welded within the next few days but one hurdle still confronts me and I turn to you all for advice! Although I have built in baffles, should I fill one of the voids with stainless steel 'wool' or not? I have researched the idea and found lots of 'yes' and lots of 'no' advice. Over to you. Roy

Hello. I'm looking for a silencer/exhaust to fit a MVVS 3000. It needs to be the side-mounted type and it must have 37mm between the fixing holes. Does anyone have one lurking about in the depths of their workshop, I wonder?

Hi Alan. Thanks for that. I will call them tomorrow. Roy

Thanks for that, KC.

Hello to all. I recently required help searching for air brakes on this forum and within days, the problem was solved. I must once again turn to the scale gurus for help. I have almost finished building a Jodel Robin DR 400 Cadet at 3.5-1 from Sarik plans. Although I have experienced several errors in the plan, things went quite well. I now find that I am ready to construct the canopy. Being a pretty big item, I am having troubles with it. I have built 2 plugs using different methods but neither seems good enough. Contacting Sarik, to enquire if the item is available off the shelf, is difficult as they don't reply to my emails! Graupner and Black Horse, who also produce the item, are out of stock. Can anyone help, please? Happy landings. Roy

Frank. Thanks for that. Regards Roy

Hi Glenn. Yes! What size are they and how much?
-
Hi Frank. Thanks for the reply. The ones I am looking for have 2 sections which rise from the wing. I've not heard them referred to as scissor type but it's a good description.

Hello all. I'm looking for a pair of 250mm air brakes to be built into a Krick Minimoa at a sensible price! (i.e. less that the £75 - odd currently being advertised.) Failing being able to buy them, does any-one have the drawings to enable me to build them myself? Thanks, Roy.
-
Thanks for the replies, Chaps. I will follow them up. Happy landings, Roy.

Hello to all. I am in the process of restoring a Morley Hughes 300 to its former glory. To complete the restoration I need a pair of the 'fuel tanks' and a starter belt. I have tried all the existing outlets, without success. Does anyone know of a source of the items, please? Happy landings. Roy

Hi Tom. I am in the process of scratch building the 100-odd inch Robin from Sarik. If you take a look at my album, it might give you a few pointers. I would add that I found several glaring 'errors' on the drawings. Good luck. Roy Edited By Roy Hill 3 on 10/01/2021 18:51:56

Thanks chaps, I stand a wiser man!

Hi Folks. Am I the only one who is missing out or has no-one got their November copy of RCM&E yet?

Terrific model, Darryl. Well done. If you look in my albums, I have detailed my scratch build of the dH2. Mine has fully functioning rigging and is therefore a nightmare to get to the flying field. I have managed to source a 4-blade prop, which I find adds a bit of realism. It still hasn't flown yet!
