  1. Hi, The fan is a Jetfan V2 90mm with a Het 700-68 1200KV motor The thrust tube is from RC Turbines as was the fan and motor. The ESC is a 120Amp HV YEP from Hobbyking. I started off using 4 x 6 cell 3000mah batteries from my 500 heli but I have now changed to 2 x 6 cell 8000mah. They were slightly heavier but this has moved the CofG to be spot on and improved the general trim and flying characteristics of the model. The main power connectors are 5.5mm bullets - peak current is around 100amps and it gives around 5kg of static thrust as installed in the model. I'm now getting flights of 5.5 to 6 minutes with some reserve in the packs and enjoying quite a bit of full power flight instead of power management. It takes off from grass very easily and will climb away at a really good rate - thrust is not an issue! Sorry for the very slow reply! Dan
  2. Gary, Your progress looks very good, I like the colour scheme! Very interested to hear what the all up weight is when you are finished? What retracts did you go for? I was considering the eflite 15-25 set but I think the plane might be on the upper end of the weight limit. The wing mounts don't appear to have enough room for the 25-40 size. My progress has been pathetic the last few weeks for two reasons, firstly I have been busy with other stuff and secondly I dread the fuselage planking and that's the next job! Dan
  3. Hi, My progress is nothing like as impressive as yours im afraid! I have sheeted the undersize of the wing but had to put that on hold as I had run out of servo wire (new stocks arrived today), I wanted to run the wires for the flaps and ailerons before sheeting the wing completely in. I have built and sheeted the hori stab, it needs the elevators cutting and shaping to finish. The fuse is has now got both sides complete, I need to fit the intakes and then I think its ready for some planking - I will put that job off just a little longer! Ive been trying to upload some more photos to my Razor album but im struggling to get them to work, maybe my file sizes are too big. I will have another play later. Your build looks excellent! Is that a hatch I spy at the front undersize? Did you figure out the flap hinging? I thought as they are quite thin that a standard flat pin hinge would do the job. Dan
  4. I think it's because the wing isn't deep enough at the tip to take both spars, it wouldn't be necessary either as the forces acting on the tips are low in comparison to the Centre of the wing. Dan
  5. Hi, I've made a start but nowhere near your progress! Unfortunately I have been distracted with some repairs from a new years day flying session. Next job is aileron and flap servo mounts and then sheet the wing. Dan
  6. Hi, I have finally finished my vampire enough for a test flight. I still have the cockpit to finish and then add some paint details. The test flight was great, I had the CG probably 1/4" forward of plan and the handling was perfect. My power system is a jetfan 90mm V2 on a 12 cell 6000mah battery, first flight was 4 minutes and had 60% left in the packs! I also tested it on a 10 cell battery and it still had enough power for a grass take off. Really happy with it. Here are the pre flight photos: Dan
  7. Hi, I can see a Shane Harding on the members list so hopefully he will notice this thread. Have you looked at the wing yet? I'm unsure about the trailing edge arrangement, it appears to be made of solid balsa but at the wing centre this would be a big chunk. The wing could have really used a cross section view on the plan. The other thing that's not 100% clear is the 1/4" sq spars - they appear to be balsa from the grain pattern drawn but it cant see where this is confirmed. Have you choosen retracts? The bearers appear to be the correct size for eflite 25-40 set. Dan
