  1. What happened to this thread????. This seems to happen to so many threads..................no ending, did the butler do it?
  2. That does not account for mine being 7.5Lbs......1.5Lbs is quite a lot extra, maybe extra weight in servo, esc, motor etc. Ah well a brick will fly with enough power
  3. Good to hear yours is progressing Johan and thanks for the congratulations. I will post details of the maiden as soon as I fly it (or crash) Clive
  4. I think the maiden might be very interesting then. I don't see how the wing loading can be made better. I spoke to TN and he said that it will fly even with the high wing loading as long as the C of G is acurate.
  5. If this one flies well, I could be tempted to find a bigger model of it with more accurate scale detail. Anyhow I hope you get to continue your build soon. cheers Clive
  6. Thanks Jonners, this one looks nearly as good as yours............ Don't know if you have these pics? It would do my head in not having a work shop, my wife would kill me if I could not play with my toys and keep anoying her Pic2

  9. Well thats it. I will just do one more C of G test and then when the weather and time allows, with knees knocking I will commit avaition. Don't hold your breath as things are quite busy down here at present but I will report after the maiden with pics if possible. Thanks to all for the info and assistance on this forum. Clive pic 2

  12. Terry, thanks for your reply....................since my last post, modifications to the fire wall now allow the battery to move further forward. I did not think that it would fix the problem totaly but at least reduce the extra weight needed. I was wrong.....with a slight shift of my ESC as well from the firewall to a slightly more forward position, I can now balance the aircraft without any extra weight. I have rechecked the C of G several more times to convince myself that I'm not missing something. When initially seeing the amount of extra weight I needed and looked at moving the battery I only saw the part weight I was putting further forward and not the fact that the rest of the battery weight was moving forward of the C of G. Hope that makes sense? Anyhow I'm a happy camper.......................... Clive
  13. Well I have finished my Lizzy except for a few cosmetic details. On checking final C of G I have found that I need anout a 1Lb extra weight up front, the aircraft is weighing in at 7.3 lbs without the extra weight. So its modification time to get the battery further forward. I cannot find any weight aft of the C of G that I could remove or move to help the situation, I can only assume that the "Solartex " is to blame for the extra weight. I would certainly rather remove weight than add it. The extra required weight would make the wing loading very high and it was high enough in the design originaly. So it will be a little more time before I commit aviation with her.
  14. I use something similar which can be easily used on any aircraft. http://home.mindspring.com/~the-plumber/Vanessa%20CG%20Machine.htm I have a PDF file of the whole contraption and how to make it. Its very cheap to build and can be made in about 1/2hr. I any one wants a copy PM me with your email address and I will send it to you. Its great not having to make sure the aircraft does not fall off whilst you move things around to get the correct C of G
  15. Thanks Terry, I thought someone had said that they were removing weight that they had put in too get the C of G correct.
