  1. Sorry to see you go CBS, i for one have enjoyed your posts......happy flying mate and hope you dont stay away for to long regards Johnny
  2. Why would you want to ban a download? People who download plans then go on to buying the materials to make the model which in turn supports the model shops......and im all for that in these tough times Johnny
  3. I learned to fly in the early 70's, my dad taught me by passing the box purely because at that time when RC equipment was very expensive we couldn't afford two sets. Would i learn that way today?? dont be daft, for the cost of a couple of quid for a lead and for the pleasure of having an instructor "hold my hand" and to be able to take the controls in the dying seconds of flight......its a no brainer!! Buddy lead all the way Johnny
  4. Personally id run the 53 Irvine.....why buy another motor when you have one?? I dont think it will ever be a collectors item as there were millions made and millions still being used today.....also do you still have the original box and instructions?? because a collector would want those too....just a thought Oh yes i forgot to mention they are a bloody good engine too Johnny Edited By Johnny Kirkham on 08/05/2013 18:20:51
  5. Cracking job Pete it looks brill!! lets us know how the maiden goes Johnny
  6. Great filming Tumtum it was a pleasure to watch Can you give us details of what model etc you were using?? Johnny
  7. I think its all down to the type of model as to what percentage is used......for example I fly a WW1 Bristol monoplane, it wont turn on aileron/elevator alone and it needs a good portion of rudder to kick the back end round. At the moment ive got a aileron to rudder mix of 20% but it really needs more as im still using quiet a bit of rudder stick when i turn.....I will increase this percentage bit by bit untill it flys scale like. Johnny
  8. A BIG warm welcome to the forum Stuart its good to have you here. Also a good idea to sus out your local flying clubs (check BMFA website) they will be able to give you lots of good advice and may also have a club trainer to have a go on Johnny Edited By Johnny Kirkham on 28/04/2013 18:46:16
  9. What a great idea Graham well done Johnny
  10. Posted by Frank Skilbeck on 09/04/2012 09:53:13: Mixing aileron to rudder counteracts adverse yaw and will stop the model from dragging it's tail in turns, you can of course mix a bit of rudder in with your thumb, but letting the radio do the work has it's advantages. Reading the Dx7s manual it has an Aileron-rudder mix built in, basically go to the mix menu use the roller button to select aileron rudder mix, dial in the % of mixing you want and select the switch you want to use to switch it on and off. Frank this is what i want to do also. I have set the percentage and it works fine (it is switchable on the rudder rate switch by default) but can you please tell me how to select another switch?? I want it to operate on the gear or AUX switch......thanks in advance.... Johnny
  11. Hi Guys, im flying a WW1 Bristol which requires rudder at the same time as aileron to make it turn nicely. At the moment im using the aileron to rudder mix that is preloaded on the set and it is switched on with the rudder dual rate switch. My problem is i want to make it switchable with either the landing gear or Aux switch.....can anyone tell me how to select these switches?? I forgot to mention the tranny is the older version not the new one. Johnny

  15. Tom thanks very much for taking the time to share your wisdom with us auto-g newbies. Ive just read the whole thread from start to finish and really enjoyed it. Not only are you a great auto gyro designer/pilot but you are a great author too (unlike me on both accounts) lol. Thanks again Johnny
  16. Great filming tumtum was it FPV or just normal filming?? If it was normal filming you did well to follow those models.......well done i enjoyed it Johnny
  17. On crosswind landings i always us the rudder to keep the nose into wind (as much as possible) whilst just applying a tads of oppersite aileron if and when needed to keep the wings level....then at the last second apply oppersite rudder to bring the nose parallel to the strip. See how the big boys do it **LINK** If only i could do it like that......dammit!!! Johnny Opps forgot to mention im an IC flyer not a glider man
  18. Dammit Trots I wanted that!! lol Have fun with the build it looks a nice model Johnny

  23. Kean have you got your failsafe set?? ie have you set your throttle to cut in the event of signal loss?? Im just asking this basic question because this is a good indication of signal loss....you may be blaming signal loss when its something else......just a thought Johnny   Edited By Johnny Kirkham on 31/03/2013 17:43:56
