  2. Thanks for the prompt replies Otherwise ACE you can rest your brain for a while now the other reply i had was the right one oh and as you can see i was wrong about the bone through nose This is the site i was looking for https://jivaro-models.org/trucs_soluces/page_trucs.htm#gsc.tab=0 Here is the pic from homepage Big thanks to both of you for the answers
  3. This is my first post on here for along time must be getting on for ten years i feel a bit cheeky asking for help after such a long time away. Been looking after my lady wife 24/7 for that time so nearly gave up on my flying . Thank goodness the doctors at the royal found a solution so my wife now on the mend and i have a bit more free time. Here is my question for you all i used to read loads of rc forums and websites including this one but there is one i cannot find I feel sure it is an rc website and not a forum it has a lot of building blogs +rc hints and tips.i think the site was a dutch of french one bit i could be wrong If you have seen the site i think you would remember the homepage it has a cartoon type head and shoulders picture of what i remember as sort of native with earrings and a dog bone through the nose the picture its self is set in a circle. You can choose from several languages before you start to read. Big thanks to anyone who can help as i have the odd hour or so to read but not much build time
  4. Hi because i am not fitting any spars in wing thought i may as well go the whole hog so no vertical stab or rudder. Slot cut into elevator for ply brace. Hot wire treatment. V tail held together with temporary brace. You do know i was only kidding about the wing spars. So much to do so little time

  8. Hi Kevin and Bruce thanks for the replies i have removed the box spars from the wing came out real easy my ones are not alloy more like mild steel and very thin section there is no give in the spars at all they will never bend under stress they will just kink. My spars will go in the bin they are just junk but if i did put them back in the wing i would give them a thin coat of gorilla poly first so they are connected to the foam or if i did not remove them i would just turn wing upside down and squirt some foam safe CA into the small rectangular slots through which you can see the spar. After seeing the spars out of the wing i think when the wing flexes the only thing bending is the carbon wing joiner.Even though i think the spars are junk i would still buy this model the spars are easy to replace with something more suitable. The fusealage alone is worth the price i paid for the whole kit.I have compared the fusealage to the one on my Cygnus which is duralene bought from Alan Head in the 80s think the duralene fusealages were made in the states but cannot remember who made them. The Cygnus is the Flying Wing shown in my avatar.

  10. Hi i have just received a Phoenix 1600 kit but cannot find any threads for this model so rather than start a new thread thought i would ask my questions on here. Has anyone removed the metal box spars from the wing if so any tips for removing them. Are they glued in or is the wing made with the metal spars in the mould. Thanks in advance for any help

    Plans exchange

Hi have some plans i will never use mostly from the 70s 80s if anyone wants them just pay for the postage and they are yours. RC POWER Solar Wind 52" by Chris Clayton Gyrace David Boddington plan Roulet II 54" by Hoh Fang Chiun radio modeler plan RC GLIDERS Bae Hawk 50" sloper by R.A.Conway have 2 of this plan one of which is a copy Sorcerer 52" sloper by Dave Hughes Veron Impala 52" sloper Sailplanes International Osprey 64" this plan has no wing ribs shown on it but does show root rib and tip size so ribs can be made using the sandwich method as root and tip have same airfoil. OCTET this is a plan for eight small chuck gliders for either hand or catapult launch 3 of which are scale models note this plan cost me all of 2 shillings and 6 pence. I have some more plans when i get the time to find them will put them on here. Edited By noba on 23/09/2016 21:59:47
  12. Have bought both Futaba and Hitec servos during the last few months been disappointed with both i have Futaba servos i bought in the 80s they still work better than todays Futaba. Looks like Futaba quality is not what it used to be so shall now be buying Emax so many positive comments for the servos on here. Thanks everybody.
  13. Hi has anyone used Emax servos as sold by Airtek Hobbies if so would you please let me know what you think of them. Thanks in advance for any replies.
  14. Hi am thinking of using laminate film to cover a foam model so rather than start new thread am bumping this one. Would anyone please be able to tell me if there is any weight difference using laminate film instead of strapping tape and coloured tape.
  15. Hi have a birdie kit and a few questions for any birdie builders. In the box is a full roll of 1" wide reinforced tape it does not seem wide enough to use for taping leading edge only thing i can think of is use it to reinforce the elevon hinges or perhaps tape over the servo lead slots please does anyone know what the tape is really for. I have removed the foam from the top of the servo pockets and glued it back in the bottom so the servos are now on top of the wing. Am going to try using a couple of 5gm servos and a 400ma battery has anyone used lighter servos than the recomended 9gm ones. The weakest point i can see on this model looks to be the nose where it joins the wings any tips please to beef up without adding to much weight. Dave
