  1. I had a reply from Paul Bardoe himself, and confirmed the CG as 54mm Cheers
  2. Thanks for the reply. The proto is red, with dayglo trim.......I only mostly use 2200 3s anyway, plus I have a few 480w motors sitting doing nothing !!. I have emailed PB Models (even though they have sold the business to Cloud Models), so my next stop will be them. The the veneer is split a lot on the wing, and the tail isn't perfectly level either....but those aside, it's a tidy model......and the price, I got it knocked down to £30 inc three servos !!.
  3. Hi all. I was at a swapmeet on Sunday, and picked up the prototype PB Models "Crossbow".........a smaller, EP version of the famous Bullet. Is there anyone out there who knows the C/G position ?. Many thanks in advance, Steve.
  4. Posted by Erfolg on 28/03/2013 18:17:14: Steady on Mr Spitfire, the rough element in society!   Hmm.....sadly, we do not live in a utopian world......I had issues at my flying site (on public access land) where a rough group of lads would turn up, and try to fly. None would ask for Freqs, and they refused to fly with us, and then decided to split the site.....because they were embarrased ??. When it was mentioned to them about BMFA guidelines, and about keeping together....we were told where to go. Better still, it traspired they were members of another club !!. None of them landed, as they thought flying EP, EPP flyings wings...meant crashing was landing. Thankfully, they only came a few times......and haven't been seen again. So yep, there is a rough element out there !!. Edited By Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator on 28/03/2013 20:28:03
  5. Cheers for that, I was considering two wing servos anyway. What about flying qualities ?. I expect it to fly similar to my Ripmax Spitfire 600, which is of similar size......but its always nice to get other views. I'll be using a 480w motor in it.
  6. I recently won one of these unstarted kits on eBay, which I've now got a motor for. Does anyone else have one, and have any advice to share on the build ?.
  7. Safety is down to the individual........but I'd say serious modellers are aware of modern dangers, and try to limit them. Access to all forms of models has never been better or greater......but the downside, is that this allows the "rough element" in society to buy the toy end of the market. they then believe they can go anywhere and fly, drive or sail. It's this minority few who tend to upset landowners.......by crashing or being abusive when challenged. They often abuse the equipment........so eventually this give good modellers a bad name.
  8. Posted by I_AM_MARKEVANS on 08/02/2013 18:17:47: 1h 46?!!! Amazing, it thermals well then. Hi Mark. As long as there is lift around, mine will potter quite happily......although it does cruise around quite quickly. I bought a Graupner Amigo IV, a year or so bad......having flown my fathers Amigo II back in the 1980's. What a waste of money the "IV" was.........at £135 !!!. The little £40 Cherub totally out-flew it as a glider !!. The wing joiner is nothing more than a strip of alloy bar. Trust me, there is no reinforcement within the wing, that will take the stress of a bungee launch !!. I had to repair the wings on mine, after being distracted, and forgetting to select the correct model memory ??. Under the sheeting, where the joiner goes.......I found a dark, fibreous wood used to make a rather poor joiner box. My mate has two Cherubs.....and is completely smitten too.
  9. Its Weasel all the way for me !!. I was on a local site last year, when some guy turned up with a ballasted Fusion. The wind was blowing around 20mph......and this guy asked how much ballast my Wevo was carrying. I gave my usual reply.......NONE !!. The guy was gobsmacked at how she was screaming round........then pinged off into a thermal !!. I know a supplier of the belly skids, if you need spare ones
  10. A bit late here, but I agree with Slopetrash. Weasel Evo is awesome....mine is coming up to four years old, and stll puts a massive grin on my face, especially landing it inverted !!. As for the Alevo.......I binned mine. Both my mate and I spent ages trying to get ours to fly with consistency but failed. The Mk.I version is far superior.... Such a shame the newer version, didn't live up to the older one.
  11. Posted by Tim Hooper on 17/01/2013 21:42:39: "Hello, Mr S and welcome to the forum! I'm intrigued that the E-Fair will perform a few aerobatics, to say the least !."   Hi Tim. Just to put everyone straight......the Cherub/E-Fair is made by Lanyu in China, but supplied by numerous suppliers. Mine has been totally re-covered, after a minor crash......but flies just as well after repairs. Gear wise, she has 2 x HS-65HB servos, FrSky V8FR-HV Rx, Hobbywing 18A ESC, and Overlander Thumper v2 T2826 (235w/1200Kv) motor throwing a 7x6e carbon folding prop. Power comes from a 3s, 1300mAh Loong Max Lipo..........which gives around 12 good climbs to almost out of sight !!. As for the aerobatics, she'll do what I said she will.......providing she's not over-stressed !!. As a soarer, I had some of my best flights of 2012 with mine.....one flight alone was 1hr 46mins long !. Long may she reign !!.               Edited By Mr Spitfire on 08/02/2013 13:54:11
  12. I taught myself on slope soarers, back in 2000.........starting off on a Irvine Pixie, and ending up with an Acacia 2 F3F in 2007 !!!. Since 2010 though, I've been into EP stuff.....and have a sweet selection of Warbirds, including a very rare JetSmart DH Vampire. As a flyer, I feel I'm a fairly good one, within my abilities. Most of my mates shy away from doing maiden flights for "newbies".......but I like the challenge of them. I alway let people see me fly, so they know I'm ok.......but I always warn them, that I'm not to blame if they've not set it up properly, and I lose a model.
  13. Hi all. I bought my Cherub/E-fair from Overlander at the 2011 Weston Park show.....what a great little model. What annoyed me at the time though, was that Overlander removed the motors from the kits they had....saying it wasn't supplied with one (when the box said otherwise !!!). Best of all when challenged about it....I was told I could buy a "brushed" motor for it from them, for £6 !. Anyway.....mine is fitted with a 235w Thumper v2, controlled by a Hobbywing 18A ESC and powered by a Loong Max 1300mAh, 3s pack. That battery gives me about 12 climbs to almost out of sight !!. As well as being a good soarer, it's mildly aerobatic too......I often roll, loop and stall turn mine, as well as fly it inverted !!!.
