  1. If any one Jon needs to calm down its you. What's the point of complaining. We are all in the same boat and you expressing your right to complain is not helpful. If you want to complain keep it to yourself. 1000s of loved ones have died, you complaining cos you cannot go and fly is of no consequence.
  2. What these idiots don't understand Cymaz is people like your daughter and my son, not to mention the many other 1000s of frontline care workers who are prepared to put there lives on the line to care for those unfortunate souls who have contracted this virus to make a recovery. Those selfish individuals who are not taking this virus seriously and compounding the problem need putting in jail, have there driving license revoked for a period of time, heavenly fined. So we cant go flying this year. Build something, repair a model modify a model.Clear/tidy your workshop out. There is more to this hobby than flying. You wanna intereact with fellow flyers, Face time, Conference call. Flying is a small component of what we do.
  3. Postponed, cancelled, not going to happen this year, its off, not this year. Or as Monty Python put it. It is no more. What is it you don't understand? or are you just joking with your thoughts. I doubt very much if any of us will see any flying this year in a social enviroment. Because there are a lot of idiots out there who are not taking this c19 virus seriously and are helping the spread. My son is on the front line and seen many deaths. I am also involved. Just to remind you: Wings and Wheels is Cancelled due to a wretched virus that killing people pandemically.
  4. Hi Bert and Cymaz, I have total confidence in all my engines, I try not to push them past their design limits. But I think we have all had a dead engine in mid flight...bloody frightening. Fortuantly it dos'ent happen very often. As for RA being advantageous spot on Bert. Side exhaust can be a problem when you want to enclose the whole engine etc. The other advantage is most RA engines have that schurnle port opposite the exhaust port that aids the evacuation of exhaust gases. Very useful if you run a tuned pipe. I used to race powerboats (RC) all my engines were Rear exhaust and ran tuned pipes. Good fish and chips at hastings.....
  5. Hi Cymaz, The 35ra is a tadge overpowered, so half throttle is great for most things. When I bought the engine I had read somewhere that there is a bigger gap than usual in the piston ring. I ran the engine on the bench for a bit very rich to see what the performance was like. It wasnt bad...I then stripped the engine down and became very aware that the gap in the ring was excessive and this could result in loss of compression and peak power. Contacted a chap in the states called Brown who makes rings for the DLE 35Ra, he said this was a common thing with the 35ra, it was a relatively new engine on the market. He made me a couple of rings to replace the existing one. After fitting I fired the beast up and noticed an immediate difference in the engine. There was more revs and a higher compression than before. First flights with the Stampe and the 35Ra proved it to be a very powerful and responsive engine, and very reliable.

  10. This my Stampe with a DLE 35R. Happy to take photos of installation and upload if that would be any help. The cowl is made as per plans and is baffled
  11. I use the tiggy UC on my Stampe. got it from Mick Reeves. Its virtually identicle to the Stamps. Mine has done many many to/landings. never had a problem with it. Very robust bit of kit. Tony Cambridge
  12. Cymaz, can you help? Slec Stampe with a DLE35R Seem to have misplaced my plans. Do you have the measurements for the CG please. Thank you in anticipation...
  13. To put it even more simply. Each SBus servo has its own IP address. Just like your internet at home. Each servo can be programmed to perform the task in hand. Its all digital technology. Thats how one cable can be used to manage a number of servos, A number of signals can be sent down one cable, they are looking for the IP address to deliver that signal to. Its brilliant stuff. I have been using it for years. Never ever had an issue. Just a few headaches at the begining when learning the system. Once you get your head round it you will never use analogue again.
  14. Hi Bert, I will be at WW. Very difficult for me to transport the Stampe. I am disabled and my mate who usually helps me out is on holiday during the time of WW. I will do my best to come and find you all as i have followed the thread from day one and was guided by it as I built my Stampe.
  15. Ive got one with a 35 DLE ra and an SBus radio set up with a dual reciever. Check my photos out on here.
  16. Why dont you just fly figure of eights and have a spotter. then Everyone knows whos doing what.
  17. Hi Nic, got a DLE 35R up front. All the power it needs. Hi Bert, the Stampe might not mind what radion it has but I do. After spending two rears building, not to mention my scale warbirds, I wasnt going to put a 2 bit radio in amything that I fly. I was looking for versatility, flexability, reliability and programmable servos. I get all that in my 14SG. As for flying the Stampe, agree with all those things you say, except I dont throw it around but fly it as true to,scale as possible.
  18. Hi Jon, if you go to Albums there is some pictures of my Stampe, also some photos of the real thing at Duxford. Here are the Album names. Stampe Maiden Stampe Details Stampe
  19. Hi Jon, It sid cost me an arm and a leg, as did the servos, but over a period of time it wasnt to bad. I have quite a collection of radios from the years. Decided to invest in the 14sg when I started on the warbirds and my stampe. All the warbirds have flaps and electric retracs. Some have a choke on RC and needle mixture.. Liked the idea of the s-bus. a great reduction in the ampunt of cables in the models. I am hoping the 14sg will last me a number of years before an upgrade is needed. Will Try and put some piccys up.
  20. Hi John, not aure Inagree with your comments about Futaba. I use a 14SG with a dual power supply on my 1/4 Stampe and 3 other warbirds. I use the s-bus facility and s-bus servos on all my models. All servos have an IP address are are totally programmable, including speed of servo. I also have battery telemetry from reciever to my tx. I use a 6v system on all my models that the futaba reciever/servo manage extremly well. Maybe I am just a lucky guy but I have never had a radio problem in all my 40 years of building rc models.
  21. Nick, I will take some photos for you of the engine bay etc very shortly. I had to open up the underneath of the cowel a bit with some louvers I had made from some lithoplate, it was getting a bit warm under the hood.,The louvers have helped a great deal and she runs a lot cooler. Will put some photos up as soon as I can.. Tony. Cambridge UK
