  1. Nice work! Do you you have an estimated weight of the plane?
  2. I'm using Siga-Wigluv tape for hinging control surfaces. It's a tape made for wind shielding buildings, but it strong, durable and light. Works very well on models. Stick to everything. I even use it to repair my sailing gear. Leading edges are reinforced with 2mm CF rod and sanded to symmetrical shape. Again I use Siga-Wigluv tape, this time to smoothen the leading edge. Probably adding some unnecessary weight, but its just a model to play around with, might have some reinforcing effect as well.
  3. As I am waiting for supplies for two other projects, and my old Extra 300 is officially a wreck after two broken wings, 3x broken fuselage, several propellers, riped of elevators (kids), and 30g added weights of glue. It's now to hard to balance and I need a new small acro and trainer. I had to use whatever I could find, and ended up with two small broken parts of 6mm depron, and a larger piece of HD foam, and some windtape from building our house. From my older projects I took three 2mm CF tubes to reinforce the wings. This will be a rough 10% scale model of the Extra 300 with the KFm4 airfoil by Kleine-Fogleman. There will be nothing good looking about this model, just want to make something cheap from scrap to have fun with. If anyone have experience with KF airfoils, or have some tips for my model, please share.
  4. Testing done. Joints are a little too brittle. The unidirectional fibers of pultruded tubes are not ideal, but the only only option if I want to stay on scale. I then have to use plan B which is to use 3k carbon tow on and around the joints and soak these in resin or adhesive, preferably polyurethane adhesive. This will make the joints bidirectional and much stonger. Hopefully the tow will not show to much. Will be alot of work...
  5. I made som joint samples for benchtesting. Will be ready and cured in 24 hours. Testing due on wednesday morning. We'll see if this method is any good.
  6. There are many reasons I want a scale structure, but most of all it fun to build it, and a challenge to get around many of the weak point of such a structure. And it will hopefully look nice. If you have any information about the L18-C, please share.
  7. Here you have a picture of a cured joint. The blue stuff you can see is only a rest of the covertape to make the cured joint flat and a bit more neat.
