  1. I put a 20A Tunigy ESC in mine. It doesn't seem to be very happy at full throttle behaving like an IC engine with a slight misfire, but is fine at all other throttle settings. It usually flies well on the first battery but a second flight with a fresh battery results in a very premature engine failure, the servos all still working normally. Is it possible the 20A ESC is not up to the job and is overheating ?. It has no cooling airflow and the following day it will work normally again, but only for one flight. Many thanks
  2. To update item received today, so it arrived eventually just took a while.
  3. Hi Sean Have you had any success ? . I'm in a similar position after numerous e mails and phonecalls regarding an item ordered at the beginning of August.
  4. Many thanks guys. They're certainly a lot easier to fit than what I'm used to. I've ordered some thin CA so I'll give them a try.
  5. I recently bought a 40 size ARTF kit, and the control surface hinges supplied are the CA wicking type. I have no experience of these and wondered if they are really up to the job. If anyone has encountered these I would be grateful for their opinion. Many thanks.
  6. Thanks again Guys. Nowhere does my order mention UK warehouse so I hope to see it in 8 days.
  7. Many thanks Andyshades, I can't wait 45 days but a week's OK, so I won't reorder from elsewhere just yet.
  8. I ordered a couple of servos from, what I thought, was Hobbyking's UK website. Received an e mail saying delivery will take up to 45 days so I assume they're coming from the far east. Anyone any experience of what " up to 45 days " means in practice ? Many thanks
  9. Thanks Guys. It's a lead acid battery as it's only going to be plugged in for starting purposes so weight not an issue. I am using a seperate battery for the plug but it's quite old which may be part of the problem. I will persist with attempting to tune the engine etc. if there is a reasonable chance of the onboard starter working, as I say it wasn't that easy to start with an external starter. I was concerned I might be flogging a dead horse and need to do a major redesign of the installation to allow a remote starter. Thanks again for the advice.
  10. Many thanks for the replies. It does have the pictured choke fitted but I haven't tried putting a finger over the exhaust as well. The starter will spin the engine at what I would estimate to be about 300rpm using a new 3.2Ah 6v battery. I have not tried a new glow plug or plug battery, experimented with different fuel or checked the valve clearances yet, as I 'm concerned I may be wasting my time if it's just the starter that isn't up to the job.
  11. I recently obtained my first 4 stroke, an OS FS - 40 engine in very good condition. I cannot start it by flicking the prop in either direction. I can however start it with a 12v electric starter. The installation I intend requires the use of an on board electric starter. I removed a 6v system which had been used to start an OS 25 2 stroke, and fitted it to the FS - 40 which it won't start. Before I attempt to troublshoot the engine I would be interested to know if the 6v system is up to the job. It only turns the engine at a few hundred rpm whereas the 12v starter is much faster at possibly a couple of thousand rpm . Are higher rpms required to start 4 strokes ?. I am using Model Technics Duraglo 5 fuel. Many thanks for any advice.
