  1. Thanks Jon, fingers crossed he will see it. I have seen some of his advices for the 8FG and the 14SG and they are great, hence my interest on buying the book!
  2. Thanks both. Kevin, I will give these links a try. Matty, the problem with Amazon is that their books are only in kindle edition and as far as I know they can’t be formatted in EPUB or pdf which is what I want. Also, Kevin is right: I don’t like Amazon, a matter of personal preference ?
  3. Good morning I would like to buy Malcolm Holt's book of the Futaba SG14, but it seems that it's only available in Amazon. I don't have an account in Amamzon nor I want to have it, so I ownder if there is any other alternative to buy the book elsewhere?

    FRSky DIY module

Thanks Fun Flyer, I see that you went down the same route. After a couple of years with the FRSky module, have you had any problems? Once that I kick it off, I may contact you for advice

    FRSky DIY module

Thanks Mike, I read somewhere that it was to switch between modulations!

    FRSky DIY module

I have a Futaba 6EXA and I have bought the FRSky diy module to convert it to 2.4 (this one). Has anybody used it, and if so, are there any advices or comments? The instructions are quite vague. Also, I'm not planning to switch between 35 and 2.4. Is there any way of getting rid of the switch?
  7. Posted by Jason Channing on 05/07/2018 14:27:10: I use negative expo using Jr Radio most of the time on my Rudder channel. works superbly. Jason, what does the negative expo do in JR? does it soften the middle or make it more sensitive?

I think that it is now the right time to stop this conversation
  9. Posted by trebor on 05/07/2018 13:14:44: Its similar but I cant figure out where the crystals went for 35mhz This is the old T8UP, the grandfather of the 8FG. If I remember well, the xtal was inserted in the 35 MHz module, which is now replaced with the TM8

Posted by PatMc on 05/07/2018 13:07:52: Posted by AVC on 05/07/2018 12:28:47: It is interesting how "normal" people gets upset and are so keen to defend a football start that it paid 1000 times more than him (at least...) basically to do what he like doing: play football... You may like or not football, but the money that these guys are paid is simply obscene. And I'm with C8 on the short career, in fact that short career leaves them much more time to enjoy life than to most of us, and also with much more money to do so. And yes, this applies to "entertainment" in general, the main difference here is that we are talking about "sport", but sport and millions normally don't get on very well. That's why I like rugby. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't know of any rugby player that drives a Ferrari and have a 2billion house... Seems like envy is the driver in this post. No, not really. I probably haven't explained correctly and that's maybe why I think that you are missing the point. The point is that football, as it is today, is far from being "fair play". It cannot be fair play when there is such amount of money moving around. It is human nature, as simple as that. Envy? Never. I am probably the happiest person I've ever met, even without a Ferrari and my body covered with tattoos

Posted by Cuban8 on 05/07/2018 10:37:00: Posted by PatMc on 04/07/2018 22:15:33: Professional football is in reality a branch of the entertainments industry. Like other forms of entertainment only a relative few earn the headline wages that are quoted in the media & of course their playing career is quite short compared with most other entertainers. IMO they are no more overpaid than most of the "celebs" that clutter up our TV screens every day of the year. The majority of professional footballers have fairly modest earnings over their entire career with limited prospects outside football when that career ends. BTW when a manager is sacked before his contract expires he doesn't get the full compensation if he takes on another job within the contract period. The "short playing career" issue is often trotted out as an excuse for mega-wages, but one has to ask just how much does a player need? I'd have thought a wage of twenty million pounds a year would be more than enough to get just once, for the top players to keep them secure for the rest of their lives. However, one cannot account for sheer greed and the willingness of an audience to throw money away. Let's do some simple maths: 20 million pounds a year for a "short playing career" of, let's say, 10 years, makes 200 million quid. A normal person start working (let's be optimistic) at, let's say 17, and retires at (let's be optimistic again...) 60, i.e. 43 years. If we divide the 200 million by the 43 years, it equals to 4.65 million pounds a year. Who in this forum makes that money???
  13. It is a good system, Jon. Basically the only difference with the 9Z was that the 9/10C didn't include flight modes other than for gliders. But then again, you can perfectly live without them! I use now the 8FG 2.4, upgrades to 14 channels, and for the kids I have a 6EXA in 35 MHz which I want to convert to 2.4 with the FRSky "diy" module.
  14. Hi Trebor. Based on the description, it sounds like a 9C super, or maybe the old 10C. I believe that they were the last models to use CAMPac (now they all use SD cards for models storage and updates). The 9ZAP cannot be because it didn't accept the TM8 module, only the TM7.

  16. My first "computerised" radio was a Futaba 9ZAP. It is one of the best I've ever had, but the manual was thicker than "War and peace", and it included some sophisticated concepts like flight modes, programmable mixes, etc. So what I did (and it's something I do since, every time that I get a new radio) was to lay on the floor a receiver with a battery, and the maximum number of servos that I potentially would use: 2 ail, 2 flaps, 1 throttle, 2 elev and 1 rudder. Then I began to read the manual and programmed all possible setups, mixes, modes, expo, d/r,... that I could think of, and see how the servos reacted. This method helped me to understand the different inputs and outputs of the programming. Obviously when I programmed the actual models, I used hardy 20% of all these setups...
  17. That’s interesting, Martyn. A friend of mine which used to fly just 3D, learnt to fly with a Graupner in mode 1 (he was the only in the club in that mode, so he had to learn on his own). He mentioned in one occasion that a rolling harrier, and also other manoeuvres implying slow rolling, were easier in Mode 1, for the exact reason that you have described

  19. Percy, you are probably right! I know that mine didn’t es not always respond properly, and not only when I try to fly in Mode 1
  20. I learnt to fly in Spain, and the RC there was imported from the US rather than from Europe, so most people there fly mode 2, and so do I. Some years ago I tried to train myself to mode 1, using a little self made depron, but I couldn;t get my brain to respond properly, and that was the end of my attempts, and of course of the depron model...

    Fed Up!

I don’t like what football has become, I hate that they call it “sport” when the players make 90% of the money via sponsors and publicity, and not really playing football. The same applies to most elite sports btw, and that’s why I prefer some less popular but more “fair play” like rugby. Having said all that, I respect whatever each one wants to follow or be fan of. As the Beatles said, “live and let die”
  23. It’s interesting how this thread is slightly moving away from the original question... I started with thumbs because my instructor was a thumb pilot, but at some point in time I switched to thumb and finger, although if I’m relaxed enough I go back to thumbs unconsciously. As for the tray, I’ve been using it for the last 15 years or so, although now I’m flying just with neck strap and the kids have heritaged my tray: their hands are not big enough to hold the radio and grab the sticks at the same time... The thing is that I feel more re comfortable without the tray now
  24. Less exciting... albeit more relaxing at home...
