  1. Hello everybody I've just found this sub-forum, so apologizes not to have introduced myself before. My name is Alejandro, and I'm Spanish (apologizes for any mistake with the language). I came last year in July to work in the UK, in the Nissan factory in Sunderland, so now I'm improving my English, and learning Geordie . I have been flying (or trying to fly...) for the last 22 years, which does not neccesarily mean that I'm an expert, I'm just a Sunday flyer, and actually not an "all-sundays" flyer, especially with two litter children, the work and lately trying to settle down in the UK. In summary, I don't have too much time, as many of you, I guess. I'm an "Old school" modeler, hence I like building kits and scratch built from plans (when I was younger I even made my own designs...). I fly power (glow and gas), and I especially like scale models. Basically that's it. Thanks all for accepting me in this forum, hopefully I will learn a lot from all of you. 2. The flick roll is a dinamic stall, so ailerons shouldn't be used. In theory, only elevator should be used, to trigger a lost of lift by breaking the laminar flow over the wing. The problem with many models is that the profil is too small to perform correctly ("scale effect" )and this inefficiency is compesated with speed (in general models' speed is not "scale" ), which means that the model has a lot more of kinetic energy and inertia than it should, hence we need to support with ailerons and / or rudder Edited By Alejandro Valle Carrillo on 24/07/2013 12:44:13
  3. Hello all This is my first thread in this forum. Beside, I'm almost new on electric stuff, so please, be patient with me. My question is simple: I'm building from scratch a precendent turbulent-druine, which I have modified to make it lighter, so I expect that once finished, the weight will be something around 4-5 kgs (8.8 - 11 pounds) RTF. I want to try electric power with it because of engine size limitation in our flying site, and I wonder whether the below combination could work: Motor: Turnigy aerodrive SK3 5065-275Kv (**LINK**) ESC: Turnigy Super Brain 100A (opto) (**LINK**) Battery: 6S-8S 4.5-5.0 25-35C I have read somewhere that this motor on 6S and with a 22x10 would deliver 1.7 kW, and on 8s and 20x6, 1.9 Kw, so theoretically it should work, but as I said I have no idea nor experience with electric motors, so any advice will be more than welcome. Thanks a lot Alex
  4. I like the "unusual starting tecnique" posted by Walter De'Ath although I don't think I'll never try just in case...

  8. Excellent pics here, so I don't think I'll have too many options, but just in case here are some. I took all of them in Spain. The first serie is from a show called Bellota Jet Meeting, and all the rest were taken in my old club in Algeciras (Spain). I've also included a couple of my Pepsi Chipmunk from Apache Aviation Edited By Steve Hargreaves - Moderator on 12/06/2013 09:40:48
