  1. Nearly finished the Gull I’ve done it in the colour scheme of the aero plane Alex Henshaws father bought. They used it to map out the route that Alex used on his record flight to the Cape in his Mew Gull. Model is finished in Oratex white with Tamiya nato green XF67 for the lettering and the stripe. Their plane was in fact a Vega Gull but hey. I’ve some more work to do on the undercarriage but she should be flying in spring.
  2. Thanks for putting this on I’ve been looking for pictures of the cockpit. It looks like they put the passenger seats at a position that suits you when you order the gull I’ve seen bench seats at the back also for two people
  3. Underside of the centre section . Two bolts at the back and 2 dowels at the front. You can see on this picture the 1/4 ply plate running the full width of the centre section. Strong and makes it easier to replace the U.C. Onto the outer wing panels now.
  4. some work done on the centre section, bit of a challenge but if you stick at it it’s ok
  5. Looking at the outer wing panels on the Bryant gull no wash out is shown so I’ll put some in on the build. has anybody else changed the plan for this ?
  6. On the Bryant plan I’m starting the centre section of the wing, but I’m not using the 1/16 ribs I fly from grass so I’m going to beef up all of this part of the wing. I’ll make the ribs from 1/8 balsa with 1/16 ply doublers but 1/8 ply doublers on the centre and outer ribs. These will be much stronger for the undercarriage bearers. As for the undercard bearer I’m going to beef it up to 1 inch by 3/8 ply . I’ve done this before and it works believe me. I’ll stick a picture on when done
  7. Some more work done on the Bryant 72 inch Gull
  8. Yes not bad better than cutting the parts out, would have liked to put the four stroke in it but lots would be hanging out. Seem to remember using a O S 46 years ago with the silencer sticking out of the bottom
  9. Made a start on the D. Bryant 72 inch Percival Gull, I couldn’t get the laser into the front of the Gull, too narrow so went for electric.
  10. Just starting the Dennis Bryant Percival Gull will put some building pictures up in a day or two. I built one in the late seventies with a two stroke engine in, can’t remember what size. Hoping to put a laser 70 in this one
  11. Hi Evilc57 Beware of experts ! There is an excellent book by Robert Verkaik called Defiant forgotten heroes of the Battle of Britain.. I think your guide should read it as soon as possible. Cheers Mike
  12. The Boulton Paul Defiant had its maiden flight at last 12th. July. the model flew great well pleased
  13. Hi I put my servos in the fuselage well forward with pushrods but can’t see any problem sticking them at the back
  14. Great Leslie I’m pleased the Defiant is getting shown a bit more . My model has still not had its maiden flight yet but hopefully in the next couple of weeks. I’ve got the CG 115 mm back from the leading edge, Harry and Leslie can you tell me where your models balance please. Good luck with the maiden Leslie hope it flys as well as Harry’s
  15. Brilliant Harry hope mine fly’s as well, the turret is amazing I won’t be able to beat that
  16. Thanks for the info Harry that makes me confident enough to get the Defiant out, also I must get the turret working under power when it’s flying but I’ll wait until it’s flown first
  17. Very careful with the wood behind the c.g. I also put a bit more curve onto the formers with strips of 1/8 balsa and shaping to take the flat look off the sides of the fuselage, but other than that built it as per plan.
  18. Sorry didn’t mention retracts are eflite and weight 8.5 lbs
