  1. Hi hope this is the correct place. Just got myself an E-flite carbon Z cub and have a question about gluing on the rudder hinges. What sort of glue would you recommend for this carbon Z foam ?. The manual does not say, only that damage can be repaired with various glues including regular CA. Never having a foam model before I not sure, does regular CA not eat away this type of foam ? Thanks in advance for your help.
  2. Hi Simon & John, thanks for the info. I notice the various market places have a lot of 6 channel Spektrum TX's if i decide to go that route. Nevertheless it looks like the weekly indoor meet will have an extra body. Once again thanks guys
  3. Sorry if this seems a stupid question but i am new to electric flight and Spektrum system. For winter and bad weather flying i have my eye on the E-flite micro spacewalker RTF set. My question is, will the supplied 4 channel transmitter supplied in the box work with the other small E-flite BNF models or would i need to get a Spektrum TX. I only plan on having a couple of these small models to keep my hand in during bad weather.
  4. Totally agree with everyone on the cost of Futaba FASST receivers. A couple of years ago i upgraded my 9C from 35mhz to a 2.4 module but have never flown with a Futaba RX. All my RX's are Orange and have worked faultless for a fraction of the cost. As with any product, price point is a big thing, and if someone supplies an equally good product for a fraction of the cost, the big name guy will be left behind in sales revenue
  5. YakMad,   New O rings on the needles has solved the problem. Had a couple of flights this afternoon and the engine is back to its old self with a very good idle. Cheers for the info about the O rings, something else i have learned for future reference.
  6. After a good few years knocking together and flying ARTF models i have decided to enter the world of kit building. After a long hard look on the net for what would seem a good kit for a first timer, i have got myself the Topflite cessna182 gold edition kit, and plan to power it with an RCV 91CD. I would be interested to find out from all you experienced builders if it's a good choice or if you think its possibly biting off more than i can chew so to speak for a first attempt
  7. I used to use GX5 and it took ages to clean the sticky slime after a day at the field. As i now fly mostly 4 strokes and was not wanting castor gunging them up i now use synthetic oil fuel. With the Irvine contest 10 formula, yes there is still a little cleaning to do but i find it wipes off very easily and does not leave the covering sticky to the touch.
  8. The engine is installed at 90 degrees as it was in last model and it worked perfectly well then. Tried it again after a little fiddle and it slowed to a good idle but only for a few seconds after which it either died or speeded up. I am not an engine type of guy but i noticed the slow speed needle seems kind of far out...ie it's screwed out a bit above the flush. I am assuming its a setting rather than an engine problem as it was a great runner before its lay off. There is not much of a difference with or without the glow stick connected.
  9. Hi Guys..I have just put my trusty sc52fs into a new model. It had not run for about 18months but fired up first time and ran its usual beautiful self. The problem i have that has me scratching my head is, i cant seem to get a slow enough idle that wont pull the model along, which as you can understand is not ideal for landing. The engine runs good with excellent throttle response. There comes a point when another click down on the trim and the engine cuts. I don't know what to try now....any solution suggestions would be greatly appreciated.......Oh the engine is fitted with an OS plug and is fueled with Irvine contest 10 formula.
  10. Oops forgot to say....butt the leading edge stops against the centre pivot blocks and mark on the rail the outside of the leading edge stops.......that is the position of the 45mm mark of the scale.
  11. My Multiplex C of G machine sits on the shelf looking all pretty and white, while i wonder what i can make out of its individual parts.  Thats what i think of its capability to perform the task it was designed to do.
  12. I must have been a good boy cos under the tree for me was OS120 pumped FS...RCV 91CD and an OS 52 FS  .....Now what to bolt them to
  13. Hi all I have just got myself the topgun spitfire. I dry assembled it and what a beauty she is. One problem though, engine thrust line. There is no indication on the firewall where to position the engine.  Any advice on positioning from anyone who has this model would be greatly appreciated   Geo..
  14. 50 years old and am about to start my first kit. Have been flying artf since starting about 5 years ago so i thought it about time i made it myself so to speak.
  15. Hi Ron the two trainers that got me going in this hobby / sport were the ripmax nova and the arising star. Of the two, no contest, the arising star wins hands down in my humble opinion. It gave me the most service and was the better flying machine. I know that there is now a lot of new trainers on the market but, knowing how it worked for me if i was starting over again i would stick with the arising star till i was ready for a first low winger like the jupiter which i also had and found a very good machine. Good luck in your quest and happy flying.
