  1. look at ebay item number 251163773050 regards, tony
  2. Hi, I don't know what you wish to secure, but I've used clear, oil based varnish quite succesfully its a helluva lot cheaper, but of course, it is somewhat limited in its applications.
  3. I'm using Dr Schenk 404 (750ml about a fiver) brushes out onto foam straight from the bottle without thinning at room temp. it has a slight foaming effect when it reacts with moisture and "fills in" the roughness of raw foam, I just use a regular 2" paintbrush, one thing though, if you have any spars in the foam,--- I always put one in at the joint, if there is any low areas, the vacuum method will cause the veneer to "sink" into the dip resulting in a groove! so best to try to make sure foam blank is smooth, the final bond is excellent though and very durable, better I think than latex or pva and much quicker to cure as it uses moisture, not air drying
  4. gorilla glue works well (or a similar polyurethane wood glue) dries in an hour and won't harm foam
  5. Here is a little tip that may be helpful when veneering foam wings. pine veneer can be had cheaply from ebay and it make a good choice to veneer with but this tip works with any veneer, balsa, obechi etc etc, use a polyurethane glue that is activated by water (damp not soaking) such as gorilla glue (similar trade types much cheaper online). this uses a vacuum storage bag for keeping bedding etc stored, they come in a variety of sizes and are cheap, coose one that the wing panel will fit into easily, a flat board ,--- plywood, is ideal, that is roughly the same size as the wing panel goes in the bag as a support. assuming the wing core is already prepared and the veneer cut to size wet the veneer in the bath and shake off the excess water, paint the wing panel to beveneered with the gorilla glue position the veneer in place and carefully place the panel in the bag, ontop of the board, connect a vacuum cleaner to the valve on the bag, first having zipped it up, as the air is sucked out, the veneer will mold itself beutifully around the airfoil section of the foam blank, great thing is, that you can see exactly whats happening thro' the bag. remove cleaner pipe an screw the cap on, in abot 1 hour, the adhesive will have cured enough to hold it on safely but of course it can be left in the bag for 24 hrs if needed. a clean, quick way to veneer a wing..........forgive me if you all already know! happy building
