  1. Andy, Sorry you've lost the smoke. I'm an electronics engineer by profession and I've lost a lot in my time - I'm still looking for a way to catch it and put it back.! Good luck with your surgery. Reg
  2. Barry, I left the apple cheeks off initially because I couldn't make out exactly how they related to the removable top. Once I'd started it became obvious but I then decided I'd leave them off to create a slightly different design good luck with your build.and I look forard to seeing your version. Reg
  3. Steve, Thanks for your help - I somehow got to another thread when i clicked earlier, hence the help question. Isn't it simple when you know how! Reg     Edited By Steve Hargreaves - Moderator on 14/03/2012 17:33:16
  4. Tim, Now it can be told! I've called it HiTayle because it is so different although I tell anyone who asks what its real design name is and where it came from because I do like your overall design. Steve - how do do I post to the thread? Reg
  5. Tim, Thanks to Steve - I've put three pics on my photo album. Hope they are of interest. Reg
  6. Hi, Tim, I don't know how to send pics (having never tried!) If the moderator or some one else will tell me how then I'll do it. In case you're interested I changed the internals so that the bettery is on a horizontal ply mount and this left room underneath for the ESC.. Hence, when you see the pics, the green nose section comes off to give access to both the ESC and the motor. I also used snakes for both the rudder and elevator - probably because I'm a bit lazy and the thought of setting up the 'push me pull you' seemed un-necessary - and certainly appears so in practice. Hope you'll like what I've done when you finally see it. Reg
  7. Tim, Just to let you know I've also just completed and successfully flown my version of your Clean Sweep., I omitted the apple cheeks and modified the elevator and rudder slightly as I preferred them to match the forward slope of the main wings. I also set the lower nose section as removable so I could get to to motor. and left off the spats as our grass is too long for them. If anyone's interested I used a Tornado 3536 with 10x7 and 4 cell 2200 LiPo and am getting about 450 Watts peak. Delighted with the way it flies - so well done Reg Athill
  8. If you haven't solved it yet I suggest you get a Tornado programmer unit. You plug the ESC into it and it will tell you what its set to. You can then change its settings quite easily once you've found the info that comes with the ESC. Another way is to listen to the 'beeps' when you switch on and compare with the information that came with the ESG. Alternatively a simple way to see what the ESC is set to is to set up the power train, connect a voltmeter across the battery, and then run it until the ESC cuts out the motor drive then read the Volts. The problem with this  is that if the ESC has been set to a lesser number of cells than the battery you are testing with then you need to watch the volts very carefully, or you may destroy the battery by allowing it to get too low. I hope this helps  (I tried to reply before but it doesn't seem to have arrived so this may be my second post!)
  9. Please enter me too - how do I arrange to be at the top this time?
  10. Please add me to the list - and put me nearer the top this time! Cheers Reg
