  1. Yes Martin, just lay the cloth on dry and brush the poly through. When dry trim around the edges and a few coats of poly- filler mix, light sanding in between with a final coat of poly before spraying. The glass takes compound curves well on the fuz. and formed the hinges on the elevons. Ron
  2. Hi Foxfan, I'm a bit late to help you with this build but if you use EPP/DEPRON/FOAMBOARD again this is how I finished my model. My blue Cutlass ( see my album ) has an EPP fuz and DEPRON wings. It was covered in lightweight glass cloth and Wilco water based poly varnish. Grain then filled with a mix of varnish and light polyfilla, then sprayed with a cheap rattle can. Once allowed to harden the poly varnish seems to protect the DEPRON from harmful solvent. This finish isn't my idea, but it does protect the model, and make it long lasting. My Cutlass has done over 400 flights and still looks ok. Ron
  3. Yep, disappointed. Ireland not a happy hunting ground for us in the last few years.
  4. Ireland played withe so much energy in the first 50 it denied us possession, then there was no way back. As one closet Welshman said..onwards and upwards.
  5. Tight game. Ireland on top...just ,Sexton kicking us to death.
  6. French defence on top today. Why didn't England grab Shaun Edwards ?
  7. Don I've lost my mojo when it comes to building, the new hack build is using a foam wing I made 20 yrs ago and the way It;s going the fuz will be another 20 yrs
  8. Bonus point to nil win a good start. McNicholl looked good but set piece looked a bit shaky at times
  9. 21-0 half time for Wales Italy look sharp in attack but fail to finish.
  10. Hi Shaun, I have an E powered delta ( have a look in my album) it has no side thrust and is fine at normal flight speeds. When flying slowly at high angles of attack, power needs to be added slowly to avoid severe torque reaction. In fact it can be fun to do this at altitude and go to full power holding in up, the model will spin whilst climbing. Your 700kv motor will use a larger prop than mine, so I would at least leave the option open to add side thrust at a later date. Strangely my pusher Cutlass does not have the same torque reaction as the tractor delta, though they are the same size and use the same power train. Ron
  11. For a trendsetter how about the Astro Hog by Fred Dunn, from 1957. Probably the first low wing aerobat and the daddy of all those that came after, sweeping the board in US competitions. Ron
  12. Eng gave their best on the day, but it's hard to play behind a beaten scrum. Bit surprised at that.
  13. I'd like to think Wales suffered the AB backlash from losing last week, but although we never gave up we were outplayed in all aspects of the game. Edited By ron evans on 01/11/2019 10:54:27
  14. AB look like scoring every time they're in Wales 22. Wales look better moving the ball wide. Fast game.
  15. Can't say I'm looking forward to the game in the morning, but with changes on both teams it might be interesting for the neutral observer. I see Eng. coming through on Sat. They will offer a bit more muscle than Wales could muster last week, and hopefully a more interesting game
  16. Failed at the last gasp I'm going flying.
  17. We're losing the forward battle and the kicking game and losing men. Need some magic in the second. Come on Wales.
  18. great defense strangles AB running game. Can Wales do the same against SA. Not confident
  19. Great first half....Eng take it up the guts .
  20. Must be my age, but the stress is getting to me. After all it's only a game isn't it......isn't it Edited By ron evans on 25/10/2019 20:26:25
  21. So, it's crunch time in the morning for Eng., and I think they have a great chance of making it to the final.......now how does that tune go. Unfortunately I don't feel as confident about Wales. Even if there were no injuries it would have been a big ask, we haven't been playing well and SA have got their mojo back. Oh and as someone recently said, they're "big buggers" too. An extra hour of sleeplessness Sun morning. Edited By ron evans on 25/10/2019 20:04:52
  22. Can't see why water based poly shouldn't be used on veneer, it is made for use on wood. Both my Cutlass airframes are glassed with poly over wood, depron and epp (see my photos) without any issues. Epoxy does give a harder finish, but poly is completely adequate, with a low odor and easier clean up.
  23. I've recently mended a veneered foam wing with light glass cloth and Wilco water based poly. There seemed to be no adverse effect on the veneer after 3 coats. Many moons ago I finished a foam wing with tissue and dope, and the dope seeped through the wing tip joint to eat away some of the foam, a bit of a mess to sort out.
