  1. The lockdown has let me to start a idea I was going to exam closer next winter. It's using a 1950 free flight plan for a Zaunkonig (German trainer) and bring it up to date and install radio etc. It's the first R/C scale model I've done. Plans have been printed, balsa and bits obtained. Now need to look at the drawing and make suitable changes. Hopefully I intend to post a few pictures. It was reading Eric (Winkle) Brown's biography that made me aware to the aeroplane, apparently it was meant to be the easiest thing to fly ever, sounds like its ideal for my piloting skills. 2. Suppose it sort of counts as 2020 mass build, even though I built a MIG 15 last year. Had to do a rebuild this year and had just finished it the day before the virus restrictions were brought in. One simple begineers mistake I made was to cover the top and bottom of the wings identically. With the result I couldn't tell which was up, That and my limited flying skills leading to the rebuild. Fortunately I had built the nose cone out of depron and it was detachable, so that took most of the impact. Anyway second version is now finished and ready for action. I had added a rudder as well, total all up weight is 490 gm.   Edited By Robert Dodd on 29/03/2020 16:35:21
  3. Hi again Problem is as follows Couple of years ago i bought a cheap 4 channel atrf which i have had great fun with and many hard landings (crashes), anyway after the last nose first grounding the motor would not run, but the battery had expanded, so bought a new battery, still would not run, so bought a new esc, still would not run, even the spare motor will not run. All other controls work ok. I have tried the transmitter on a flight sim, and it shows the throttle going full range. I am getting a repeated bleep out of the esc, but no motor run. Is there anyway of easily testing the transmitter/reciever, I hate just changing bits on chance basis, though it seems it must be either the receiver or transmitter, if its the former I will get another, if its the later I will look to upgrade, butwould rather not waste my money on a surplus receiver first. Hope someone can help Bob Dodd
  4. Hi Beb Thanks for the reply, what I wanted to know was where would be best to post a beginers question about motors, esc's, batteries, r/c transmitters and receivers, I have a problem somewhere in that area, which is defeating me at present. Regards Bob
  5. Hi, just a quickpost to say hello, and ask one quick question. As with many others, marriage, children and work all and modelling slowly ceased, models were hung up in the garage as we moved from house to house, with the intent of one day getting back to flying again. Now, about 40 years later, (in print that looks terrible, only seems a few years ago). I have started messing about again. I used to fly control line, and intend to teach the grandkids this as a means of getting them airborne. So some of my old models, especially a 47 year old "bouncer", has been made ready for flight. Anyway onto the question, which is, where would it be best to ask about a problem I am having with getting an electric motor to run in an inexpensive r/c model that I have. I have been enjoying myself getting nearer to being up to date, and electric flying seemsto be the way to go at present, but other commitments make it difficult to have time at weekends, so joining a clubis awkward, though i intend to asap. So thanks to anyone who has read so far, and I look forward to getting out in the fresh air and learning to fly.
