  1. I guess this is really for the quad section, but it appears not to have had any contributions since last year, so I thought I'd try this section! Essentially I got into quads around 3-4 years ago, when the Naze 32 was the thing to have. Interests changed, & I lost interest, now my son wants to have a go at quads, so we dug the old kit out. When I came to connect the flight controllers to the PC, I can't connect anything (3 Naze 32s, an SPF3, & a Pixhawk). I cannot connect, I've tried 3 different PCs (all very recent build Win 10, a Win 10 laptop, & a Win 7 laptop. a Multitude of different leads, Cleanflight & Betaflight. All with the same result. I've also tried the Zadig 'fix'. I did get the SPF3 to re-flash on the Win7 laptop, but that won't verify. What am I doing wrong? I didn't have this problem first time around! Alternatively, does anyone want to buy a bunch of flight controllers!
  2. I didn't have any luck with the link in the first article in this thread, but a bit more Googling came up with this link, https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109 after a download & install, my Phoenix install is running perfectly on Win 10.
  3. Many thanks for that, it would appear that matey in the video had exactly the same problem as I do. Essentially it seems that the Walkera product, WK-Remote, doesn't work on Android. Nobody can get it to work. But, a bright spark in Vietnam has written his own version, CT-Remote, which does. This is now available for download in a couple of places, I'll try it this evening & report back.
  4. Has anybody had any success with flying a QR 100S with an Android device? This is apparently possible with the appropriate downloaded app (WK - Remote), & while I can see the wifi signal generated by the device, & indeed connect to it. Any attempt at flight results in nothing at all from the little chap, there's all sorts of LEDs flashing & static. But unfortunately nothing in the manual describing what each of these actually mean, or whether they're supposed to be flashing or not. I'm wondering if there is some sort of firmware update needed in order to use Android? I don't own any apple devices, so can't try that, but I'm told I should be able to fly it with a Spectrum or JR Tx, anyone know for sure? Thanks for your time, Ian.

  6.      Morning, I've been following the progress of this new radio for a while now, & was interested to read Daves comments, it certainly sounds a fascinating piece of kit.    Then however I started looking around a few of the online retailers at pricing, my closest shop (SMC) are showing the 2.4Ghz version at £1699.99, some way below the RRP, which is obviously a 'good thing'.    I then started looking at a few 'foreign' sites, in the US for instance, the first site I looked at, & one that I have used before, exactly the same spec & content (ie. Tx & Rx only), is priced at $1499.99, which at todays rates comes out at £1024.76.    How can the importers possibly justify this huge price hike for an identical product? That's at retail price, if you consider the RRP (£2299), it looks even more outrageous.    I realise that I would need to take into account import duty & VAT, plus all the alleged points the importers will throw at you about features being unique to UK etc, but from experience, I know that isn't a problem. I love my JR kit, but I wont pay the current importers ridiculous prices for the privilege, my US import PCM 9X (or more properly 9303) is still going well, & on the only occasion it did fail, those really helpful guys at SMC fixed it in no time with no fuss, QED.      There, I feel better now                              Ian.
  7. I (like others here), like experimenting with different manufacturers LiPos, & while I don't have a huge number, I did have a fair variety of connectors. My solution was to buy a load of connectors from eBay to fit my balancer (I think it was about a fiver for 20 or so), cut the original ones off, & solder on the new ones. Works for me, couple of minutes work & no compatibility problems. Lets hope my next balancer has the same connector

  9. How about 1) Blackburn Buccaneer (EDF) 2) Gloster Javalin (EDF) 3) Fairy Swordfish
  10. 1. 100%, fixed wing & heli 2. 100% 3. It adds a new dimension, most certainly! 4. Electric content is fine by me. But remember there are types other than 3D foamies! I got back into RC after a 15 year break, (I used to fly IC stuff), & couldn't believe how much more convenient electric flying is. Nowadays there's no trade off in performance either, the only thing that would tempt me away from electric is a turbine! But I think the other half would object most strongly, (not to mention the bank manager).
