Well, I started my first build on the day that my number 1 son was born. I'm advised that it was probably a DB Mascot, but of course I couldn't fly. In an attempt to clear out my garage I was planning to put it in a skip, but Number 1 son stopped me and said, I want to see that fly one day. So many years later, having got myself an 'A cert', I converted it to electric and with a pit crew of my flying buddies from Corfu, we took this 29 year old plane for it's maiden flight. Well, that's 7 visits for me in 6 years,. the last one back in July. There's nothing not to like (except maybe Corfu airport departure lounge ). Everybody you meet there becomes a friend.

Hi, hope nobody minds if I add a post in response to the original question 'is there a problem with the DX6?' I bought a DX6 some time last year, G2 6700 (so single antenna version). Then reading about potential problems, I was reluctant to trust it with my main fixed wing models, so it became the 'sim' transmitter'. A bit of a waste really. Then this year I noticed that HH re-launched the Champ, an old favourite of mine, but this time with lots of new features including gyros, GPS, and failsafe features like 'holding pattern' 'geo fencing' and 'auto landing'. So I thought, this is the ideal plane to give me confidence in my DX6. Took it out yesterday, ground checks, range checks all fine. Take off was fine, once above about 20 feet the DX6 had no control whatsoever. The Champ went into its holding pattern, flying circles over my head. None of the Tx buttons or functions seemed to have any effect; most significantly I could not reduce the throttle. The Champ eventually 'auto landed'. Today, I re-bound the Champ to my main flying transmitter (DX7s), went back to the same flying area and it behaved impeccably; smooth flying in circles, figure of 8's, well over 10 minutes of flying and 3 interim landings. Conclusive - probably not. Would I ever trust the DX6 - definitely not. What can I do with it? probably take it to the local tip. Pity really, it's so smart in its black and red livery

Having read the article by Dave Phipps in the BMFA News regarding EASA Prototype Rules for Unmanned Aircraft, and the impact of this possible legislation, I can't help thinking that it's so incongruous to get a promo from Hobby King announcing their Quanum Follow Me Drone. Guys, I've got rid of my DX6i and thrown the manual away, but I used the timer all the time and I'm sure the setting was not "Throttle Cut" but "Throttle Out" and you can set it to 10% 25% etc. That's also how my current Spectrum transmitters work. So the timer does start when you put "some" power on.

Julian, I think what you get in Intermediate mode is not exactly self levelling, but a restricted roll. So with full aileron, once the model reaches a certain degree of roll, the ailerons will flip back to neutral (or maybe even a little bit beyond). I don't have the apprentice but I have a couple of smaller ones with the same technology regards
