  1. Thanks David..yeah may well do that, just had a fly outside and yes it needs to be dead calm, great fun though.  Spence.
  2. Dear All, happy new year to everyone. A couple days ago a took delivery of the new Twister Skylift, it was well packaged and cost £134. I have read several reviews about this helicopter, some good, some bad, so with aprehension i opened the box and was surprised by the build quality it is very good indeed. After 10-15mins of setting up blades etc i put the Li-po on charge and watched the enclosed DVD which talks you through set up and flying etc. After an hour the Li-po was charged, i set the skylift down in my front room( i have flown before but would suggest larger area for begginers) and gently applied power and trimmed the machine, after 2 mins i was ready to hover i applied power and it very gently rose into the air with such stability it was unreal. I have never flown such a stable craft, it it very manouverable and actually feels like a "proper" helicopter, you do have to put in stick control to keep level but not a lot, remember this is in my front room, it sounds good too.All in all a very good purchase, quite a big model, lovely to look at in the air and easy-ish to fly, the only downside is that the battery lasts about 5 mins so would suggest a bigger Li-po! If you want one, get one you will love it!! Im off to find a wooded area to get some greast pics of my machine flying.  Hope this written piece helps.

I understand all of your comments and they are greatfully recieved, your right Andrew you cannot get a "real" feel for it without feeling the wind in your face etc..... I bought an E-sky sim, it gets damn addictive though, every night i try and do the perfect loop!!!!

Hi All, Like Clarky been away with work but good to see the thread giving some sound advise, i bought a sim the other day and although the graphics are not great it does give an idea of flying, and taking off etc. Just how realsitic are they? Does it give an accurate idea of flying? Im really enjoying it though and i also have a choice of planes and heli's!!! Andrew well done on your maiden flight, i crashed my plane on its first flight....heartbreaking. Gonna practice with sim then buy an Arising star. Have a good week, and safe flying at weeken. Spence.
  9. Hi Guys, I bought a Walkera 60 from RC scale for a good price too, however all the settings were wrong and to date i still cannot get them right. There seems to be plenty of power from the battery but it just will not take off to any great height, it will hover at about 2 feet then just lower to the ground. Any one help me out here? I bought it because it was larger than my Century helicopter and it looked a good price, but 3 months on and its shelved in the study. Im sure its someting easy to sort, prob is the manual is in chinese and difficult to understand the broken english in parts......

Danny, its hearing things like this that make the thread and website worthwhile, glad it all went to plan and i bet you cant wait for the next flight,i think the moral of this story is that as a begginer we need instructors to help us out, so a BIG shout out to those who help us "newbies" get in the air....cheers chaps.Spence.

Cheers for the advise, i have not tried my sim yet and to be honest i may send it back, i dont really want to ruin a Tx. Didnt do any flying at the weekend, have had problems with my model, engine spluttering ( could be because of the warm weather )so i didnt risk it.

Oh dear, it was from the sussex shop that i purchased it from? It says it comes with tx and cable etc....will see if it works or NOT as the case may be. Cheers Danny.Weather looks fab in the North West for this weekend so fingers crossed chaps that its chocks away...Clarky surely you and I will get our maiden flights this weekend!!!!!!?? By the way went up to the club last night and there was some lovely inducted fan models being flown,WOW they were quick and had a lovely sound as well. Was speaking with some of the guys last night and they said that the kits come pretty cheap, bout £150 quid all in?? What are they like to fly?? Im guessing you have to be experienced to fly them as they were so quick?Any way im looking at running before i can walk!!! Spence.

Angus, yeah ive tried a few, mainly for helicopters,i tried a few for fixed wing and i do think they give you an idea and perseption of flight, especialy when turning its easy to get disorientated. Antony is bang on in terms of club rules etc but i guess you need a little "taster" to keep the enthusiasm up.?!! Talking of simulaters, a really should buy an updated version, any ideas? and how much a half decent one cost??? Spence.
