  1. Hi Gents  I have a DX7 for use with aeroplane only. Is there a way in which I can set up a switch to use as a throttle cut like you have for the helis. I have been using the throttle trim to cut and then reverting back to previous setting....  Any help would be most welcome but please treat me as a novice (I have just moved up from a Futaba Challenger for those okld enough to remeber).
  2. Thanks guys, thats all been helpful and I now have chocs away
  3. Thanks Bob,  That sounds like the set up that I would have normally had if I was sticking with my Challenger radio and setting up the throttle mechanically. I will of course set it up manually first. I suppose I am asking ...  Is it better to have engine cut on zero trim or aim to set up with reliable slow idle and use a switch to throttle cut?"   Dave
  4. Thats interesting using end point etc. Perhaps you guys can help me. I have just come back to the balsa bashers after a 14 year break so I have dumped my old futaba challenger stuff and bought a Spektrum DX7. I am now inundated with all this computer gear so would like to know what is the best way of setting up a throttle nowdays. Should I set it up so that full throttle is when the barrel is fully open and neutral trim and then fast idle is throttle stick fully back with neutral trim. Then after landing use throttle trim to shut throttle completly. I see throttle cut switch is used; is that better?
  5. Count me in as well. This looks good and this is my first at chancing my luck!
  6. I have been told at my local club by one of the helibuffs that futaba crystals should be ok if they are Dual Conversion (with the orange tag) Up til now I had been using the old style as 15 year old style! This is because the Tx has PPM on it. I will purchase a pair in due course and let you all know.
  7. Brian, I tried another pair of Futaba crystals last night after a good charge. Unfortunately it was no better and I came to the conclusion that Futaba crystals are not compatible with Walkera although they fitted. Anyone got any other ideas or can anyone try out other makes as I only have Futaba.
  8. Hello Brian, did you see that I tried a pair of Futaba Crystals. Not great results though. I gonna try another pair and make sure the batts are charged well. Dave
  9. Spence You may find a lot of good advice on Heliguy's forum. www.heliguy.com/forum and select the forum. Dave
  10. I dont know yet Jonathan. I am a new heli pilot. Just frustrating trying to get going with it because of the crystal problem. I tried a pair of Futaba crystals which seemed to work ok until I checked with the aerial down. I lost contact after about 4 metres so I did not dare touch the throttle. I will try another pair tonight just in case but I suspect that Futaba crystals are not fully compatible. Maybe there is a way to tune them?
  11. cheers Brian, I will be on the case tonight and will report back. Dave
  12. Crikey, that was a quick response, about 2 minutes I guess. Thanks Jonathan. I will try them out tonight and let you know. Dave
  13. Does anyway out there know of any crystals that are compatible with the Walkera Tx and Rx or how I might change things. Walkera tell me they only make two crystals on 64 and 72. I need 81 and above.
