  1. Hi Gavin. I'm interested but would like a few more details. Could you ring or text on 07548126449. Thanks, Ben
  2. Just a quick update. I did buy the Obsession, had it for 250, all it needs is a battery so happy with that but I've no intentions of flying it yet. It's massive ! Came across a Model Tech Dragon Lady on ebay just up the road so I got that RTF for 100, think that will be ok for me to start with. Thanks for all the advice and comments, I'm in
  3. I quite liked the colour scheme lots to think about now. Many thanks all
  4. Thanks for that Steve, not set on the obsession, its just what I've been offered by a mate of a mate. Think that the Soar could be alot more me. Cheers
  5. Hello again Simon. No, fly on my own. Fancy the extra weight as it always windy where I fly. Not bothered about going mental to begin with, aslong as it'll fly ok
  6. Hi Simon, it has a 120 4stroke. Tried doing a bit of research but can't find much. Did read somewhere that it would be underpowered with a 120. The Obsession is £280, there is a local (ish) shop so no issues there
  7. Hi all, after all your brains again. I started flying last year and now feel I'm quite confident. The thing is all my models are electric foamies and I fancy going ic but know nothing. I fly by myself from a mates farm so no club for advice. I've no interest in building as I'm a carpenter and play with enough wood. Is there a big difference in the actual flying ? 2 or 4 stroke ? Really no idea. I've been offered a never flown Weston UK Obsession fully kitted out but don't know if that would be suitable. I like to fly low and fast with pretty tame aerobatics. Any advice, Id be very gratefull. Cheers all
  8. Every day weather permitting. Xmas day was good, thats why dinner was late
  9. I also started with an Easystar and crashed alot but got better. Now up to the standard that I don't expect to crash and luvin it. I got myself a 1/10 buggy for when the weathers too bad to fly. Burnt out 2 motors (brushed) so decided to go for a brushless combo It's now got too much power and in danger of self destructing. My point being that if your abit unhappy at the cost of the Easystar, expect to spend alot more on your car. And their boring   Edited By Pete B - Moderator on 05/01/2014 16:38:28
  10. Hi NASHER. A mate of mine has just started flying. After countless hours on a sim he felt he was ready for a RIOT. I thought it may be a bit much for him, he proved me wrong for about 6 mins before smashing it to bits. We did not have a buddy lead tho, he was on his own. After picking the peices up he said it was just too fast and sensitve. It's now been glued back together and just waiting for the weather now .
  11. Morning all. I'm after some advice on what to get. I currenly fly an F15 EDF and a WOT4 Foame. MRS given go ahead for a new one. I've been looking at the PZ Extra 300, ST Model MX2 and the EFlite Mini Pulse. My main concern is the u/c as I fly from rough grass and all reports seem to say that they are great flyers with weak u/c. I belly land the F 15 and bolted the WOT4's on plus bigger wheels. Would the Mini Pulse be better as they are balsa & ply, or are they just as bad ? I've come down to these 3 mainly for looks and my stack of 3 cells and I don't like the look of radial engines. Any pointers much appreciated, cheers Ben
  12. Give Mike a ring on 01994 241024 or www.westwalesmodels.co.uk. Very helpful chap
  13. Got into flying about 6 months ago, had a look on the net for my local club. First thing I read was new members will be shown the kettle. Yea right ! A couple of weeks ago I was at my flying site when this chap marches up to me and tells me he flies with above club. would have thought a club member would know better than to approach someone while flying. standing between me and the model, had to be quite rude to him in the end. Im 40 miles down the road from you so a bit too far for me
  14. Not that I know of Skippy. In my original post I said about the railway because I thought the signaling cables may have affected it somehow. No trains passing at the time, they have other times with no probs. Good progam on BBC2 now
  15. Thanks for that BEB. So a WOT 4 WITH A 1.2M span is not a parkflyer ? Id class that as small compared to some but then huge against a micro. Sticking with the full range stuff now anyway, even if it wasnt the rx fault. Cheers Ben
  16. Cheers Dylan, all went a bit mental there. Some swear that the Orange rx are fine but for me the damage is done, litterally lol. Glad to say not grounded as have another 2 models both with Spektrum rx. I was led to believe that parkfly equipment was ok for foamies of relativly small size and the full range stuff only needed for the much larger models. Live and learn, AGAIN lol
  17. Cheers Rich. When it stops raining the wind picks up. Roll on summer
  18. Hi Rich 2. I have a Wot 4 foame and a F15 edf but like the chill out side of a glider, although yesterday wasnt very chilled at all. When you say you fly in any weather does that include rain ? If so how do you stop the esc getting wet ? Living on the coast in south wales we get more than our share of it. Ive read loads about flying in the rain and it seens to be a 50/50 split
  19. Ta for all your input, guess Ill never know what happened Roger BearAir, its a K3 1000 quite heavilly tuned. 1070 cc high compression lightweight pistons, head skimmed ported and pollished with high lift cams. 172 rwbhp. K-Tech forks Harris rear sets 06 R1 callipers on Gallfer discs, quick shifter with pc and k&n and full Akra. Think thats about it. Only prob now is since Ive started flying, any nice days days the bike is 2nd choice so its not getting the thrashing it needs
  20. Thanks for that John and Andrew but the post didnt bother me. Still on a downer after this mornings eppisode. No plans on giving up, and ta for that link Andrew, looks good. Cheers all
  21. Cheers Daz. Not a wind up, I was led to believe the Orange rxs were fine. I wouldnt call 500 up and 150meters away distance flying, gaining 500 ft is quite easy with the motor on honest. Maybe fair enough about railway. Let go of sticks because I shat myself so gave it a couple of seconds to try and get my ed round it. Sorry to have upset you Saved by the ground
  22. After advice again. Lost a model today, ST ASW28, stock set up, Orange R615 RX, DX6i. I fly next to the sea with a non electric railway line inbetween. Took off with no wind and climbed to around 500 ft. Flew around for about 5 mins no probs. I tried to turn right with no response, lost signal I thought. Not touching the sticks it rolled to the left till inverted and dived vertically into the sea. Last saw it floating away. I thought if I lost signal it would just fly off into the distance, not do that. Any ideas anyone ? All batteries good btw. Also what would you suggest as a good 2m foame ? Was happy with the ASW but dont want to get the same again. Budget £100-150. Cheers Ben
  23. Ok, cheers Pete. I thought they all had them and yes it is smooth. Live and learn. Think Ive got the EDF bug now tho
