  1. The opening posts problem may be due to the lines being twisted around the elevator push rod. I must add that I think that the "e" sketch above is the correct layout and the one that I have used for many years. It becomes important to use this sort of linkage when using closed-loop for elevator control as well as the rudder. The idea of crossing the lines is simply to get a better exit of the lines from the fuselage.
  2. Football? Sounds painful, is it some sort of medical ailment?
  3. Unless the original contract contains a clause allowing them to change the terms at any time; most contracts of this type do!
  4. I’ve written on this vanity project before and made my feeling known to Manny Williamson the BMFA Development Officer. I believe that no more than 5% of the membership enter competitions organized by the BMFA the remainder are members because their clubs take advantage of the easy access to a good insurance policy. Such a central site as is being discussed will cost several millions to purchase and set-up and a £150k or more a year to operate. The latter could be funded from a £5 to £10 increase in the subs so it’s the former that needs addressing and that’s not going to be funded from a few pounds on the membership. There also remains the small problem of finding the odd 100 acres of flattish land in central England with welcoming neighbours. I await an explanation of how the BMFA intend to find and fund the land purchase and development cost.
  5. I'm using the Model Sound System and I'm satisfied with it. Good service and very loud.
  6. Of course it's still going on, it's a profitable industry. I also get them from every bank that exists; I didn't know that I have so many accounts.
  7. If you brought it from a retailer then it is their responsibility to sort out the problems for you and, since it appears to not to be fit for purpose, give you a full refund. Lots of protection for us consumers now.
  8. I can add to Andy's accolade by saying my pair are excellent too, money well spent as far as I am concerned.

But if you already have the oily models, and don't want to buy new ones, it makes sense. Always ends up better than when they were glow-powered, in my experience. Agreed. But if you can sell the oily to part finance an electric, or better still buy some balsa or Depron and build one, ...... that 'better', becomes even better'er. I have nothing against those that want to continue flying IC or do conversions, just pointing out that buying or build something designed purely for electric power can have an advantage. Compromises are just that, a compromise. Agreed but it's a pity to trash serviceable airframes.
  10. I have an oily Gangster that reminds me each time I pick it up why I converted to i.c. Short of putting it into the washing machine it is impossible to get rid of the residue of gunge. If it lasts the season out I think that I will have to recover it.
