  1. Tom, Can't see to find the one listed as Richtofen.?
  2. Just seen the thread on SE5A squadron colours, (with some great results.) Can any of you suggest the same for the Flair Magnatilla i.e. Fokker Eindecker that I am building.
  3. Thanks guys, should be able to sort something out with that little lot. (Metalcoat looks like it might be worth a try).
  4. I am in the process of building a Flair Magnatilla, what can I use to create an Alloy look on the fuselage just behind the cowl. I have seen this on pictures of other peoples Magnatilla's.
  5. Hi Darren, I like you am going it alone, My first plane was the Hobbyzone stratos, very easy to fly but make sure there is no wind. Then I started flying a Bixler (no electronic aids on this,) but again I manage to fly this quite well. I cut all the rates down on this to make it as docile as possible, It does fly a lot faster than the stratos. Then I bought an eflite apprentice s, What a plane should have gone to this before the bixler, it flys so slow and stable I love it..The only problem I have is that I fly from a field behind my house, so can only fly it when the grass has been cut. I fly this in novice and intermediate modes, Having said all that, if you can get help from a club I would do that, just to get you going at least.
  6. I also have an apprentice and am teaching myself to fly. this model is fantastic for the beginner, I fly mine when the grass has been cut on the silage field that I fly from, when the grass is to long I fly my Bixler. The Apprentice is a nicer model to fly than the Bixler, and it flys a lot slower than the Bixler so gives me more time to react. I have always flown the Apprentice in intermediate mode with no problems.
  7. I don't know about the bixler 3 or Bixler 1, what I will say is that I moved on to the BIxler 2 after the Firebird Stratos, I managed o.k. I bought the Apprentice as plane number 3, this was probably the wrong order, Apprentice may have been better as plane number two. Having said that I do fly the Bixler the most because of the grass lengh problem. I fly the Bixler with a 2200 lipo and it will stay up for about half an hour on slightly less than half throttle.
  8. You can take the wing off the Bixler but it is a pain (its bolt on and very fiddly). I have the Bixler 2, without wheels. It flies a lot faster than the Apprentice and is very elevator sensitive. Also hand launches can be tricky, mine always seems to dive towards the ground so you have to be quick with some up elevator. Once in the air its lovely, I have learned a lot from it.
  9. Like you I am teaching myself to fly, and like you I am flying from a silage field, I started with a firebird stratos, (without the wheels) now I fly the Apprentice s when the field is cut, and a Bixler when the grass is long. The Apprentice is an absolute joy to fly very sedate and manageable, the bixler is a little more demanding (no safe technology) but still manageable. Different planes for different lengths of grass.
  10. Can anyone tell me what battery connector is fitted to the Eflite Apprentice, is it a EC3 or EC5. It is the 3200 mAh battery.
  11. Thank God for that Tony Bennett, I thought it was only me.
  12. Out of all these I would prefer the T28, but is it a step to far at the moment. If I slow it down to much when landing, is the stall going to bite me.
