Posted by Allan Bowker on 24/07/2020 22:17:13: What can I say...? The Ferret has a new fur coat and it looks and works better than before. Thanks for your time on it Darren, much appreciated. The tesxt filter search to refine the results is a great feature. I tried to add a second filter but would only allow me one (me being greedy!). Is www.totemhobbies.co.uk worth adding? Thanks for the feedback Allan. Technically you can add a second filter. The filter accepts a regular expression so it is possible but constructing these are not for the faint hearted For instance if you did a search for 'battery' You could use a regular expression to identify 4000mah packs that are 2s using: 4000.*2s regarding totem, it looks a good fit so will add. Cheers D.

Posted by Allan Bowker on 14/06/2020 17:30:02: Hi Darren, is there a problem with the feed to www.rcferret.co.uk from Nexus Modelling Supplies? I noticed they were missing from most of my search results (not all). As a test, I searched for a servo 'QZ601', knowing Nexus have 2 in stock @ £37.99 each but didn't get Nexus in my results (all stores, no exclusions). Only Pegasus, TJD & Slough RC returned matches in test. Thanks for your support. Hi Allan, Good spot, I was using their non HTTPs site which returned nothing. It is now fixed and working. Thanks again Darren

Posted by Jonathan Sharland on 06/06/2020 09:00:35: Hi, I have just found this and it's so very useful. One improvement if your doing some dev might be able to do more specific searches. If I search for p51 or FMS p51 I get really relevant returns. If I search of swann morton no.2. I get everything with a 2 in it Not sure how this could be fixed but it would be good if you could use "swann morten" e.g. include both words together etc. Thanks Jon Hi Jon, thanks for the feedback - i will see what I can do, I am at the mercy of the retailer's own search mechanisms unfortunately, I have to in many cases filter and manipulate the results to make something half readable and relevant. Your point about returning results with a single digit match is a good one and I will address that.

Evening /morning, Due to CV19, i've found myself out of a job and with a bit of free time on my hands. So i've taken a look at my RCFerret website with a view of a tidy up behind the scenes and to my embarrassment have realised that it was severely broke and next to useless. So, i've spent the last 2 days going through every store, removing the ones that sadly are no longer with us (I counted 10) and fixing the searches for approximately 60% of the store searches as they have either changed platform, website addresses, names etc (it was 4 years ago that I did this). So the searches should be helpful again, and going forward I plan on giving the site and app some much needed love. As always if there is a store you think should be added let me know. Daz. Posted by Allan Bowker on 17/04/2020 13:49:36: Just wanted to bump this thread, such a great website, especially while we are all dependant upon online ordering. Many thanks Allan, to be honest I pretty much forgot about the site, as it causes me so little problems. I think at some point I will refresh the list of stores, as some have unfortunately disappeared and new ones have arrived. If there are any online stores you would like added please feel free to let me know. Cheers Darren

Hi Robin, you usually see this message if the website has found some results, but in the settings (top right) the stores returning these are unchecked (not ticked). If you have some unchecked, try clicking on the square next to the name to tick them, and hopefully you should see your results. Any probs please let me know

Hi all, just thought i would provide an update to this post as a number of improvements have been made to hopefully make the site more useful. - We now have a second new URL, the existing .co.uk still works, but have added a .com to reflect that this site is moving more international www.rcferret.com - More stores have been added, so we have support for 30 U.K. and 23 U.S. stores - Significant improvements on the user interface and behind the scenes functionality, to provide hopefully useful features such as search suggestions related to what you type - rapidly reaching the 1000 unique visitor searches, that is searches have eminated from nearly 1000 different I.P. addresses - After a number of requests, i will be looking at adding RC Plane stores to the engine, so the next releases should see some movement towards these. Thanks for reading Darren

Hi all, thought I would use my first post to say hello and also introduce you to my pet project - RCFerret. Over the last few months i've been working on a little time-saving website dedicated towards taking some of the pain out of searching online RC stores for parts, parts that are in stock and indirectly and finding the best price. The website at present allows you using one search, to search 21 of the leading UK stores (mainly RC heli stores, but a fair percentage of these serve multiple disciplines) and 9 US stores. Hope you find it useful: **LINK** Cheers Daz.
