  1. As I say they seem to work ok and they were top notch back in the 80's/90's so presumably they are up to the job provided they are compatible with the modern receivers. I would feel pretty dumb if I were to bury the new plane because the servo's had some unforseen issues. Knowing that there are still users of these antiques is encouraging! Does anyone still fly their Fleet systems? What happened to DigiFleet?
  2. Hi All,   As a relitave newbie to RC flight I am just about to graduate onto my 2nd model (Kyosho Calmato Sports) I am trying not to cannibalise my primary trainer to get the new one flying so would like advise on servos. I have a (brought new when I was 16 and used twice) DigiFleet PCM radio complete with 8 x FPS 17 servo's. Like most I dont have botomless pockets and so was wondering what opinions were on me using these redundant servo's in the new plane on my JR 2610. I have fitted a JR plug and hooked it up and it seems to work ok (I just hate throwing things away!) Am I being stupid thinking of this??? 3. Hi All, I have a stripped OS 70 FS Surpass Series 1 on my bench with a couple of issues, broken inlet valve spring and a tight piston pin. I have been told that parts are rather hard to come by for this engine and that the valve springs are no longer made. What I would like to ask is does any know if there is a different valve spring I can fit? I believe that OS changed the diameter of the spring between series 1 and 2 - can anyone confirm this? Any idea where I can locate valve springs? Also I need the piston pin - I had a fight getting it out. It is slightly tight in the con rod. The piston seems ok and not worn but I have wrecked the little nylon bungs in the ends of the pin when removing it. Does anyone know if they are included in a replacement pin? I was given the engine for free and although it looks to have had little use if I cant find these parts i'll have to bin it which seems a shame. Equally if the parts are going to cost a fortune it wont be worth it - I guess it would only be worth £60-£70 rebuilt.?
  4. H All, My name is Gary and I currently live in Dubai UAE. I have always been into models (both the flying kind and the female ones!) Did control line when I was 13 years old with my brother and my dad, Brought an RC plane (Tinker Biplane) when I was 14 and finally flew it when in was 16....crashed it about 5 minutes later! I have a passing interest in Heli's but not gone further than the simulator yet - maybe one day? I still have a partially built Uno Wot complete with DigiFleet PCM radio gear (remember them?) that I replaced the poor crashed Tinker Biplane with - SO after 2 1/2 decades I have decided it is time to finish it and get it airborne, although I have a more modern JR radio set as the DigiFleet batteries are kaput - not surprising after 24 years. I've already had some good advise from members on this forum regarding suitable engine sizes for the Uno Wot and also had invaluable help with replacing the missing build manual. Im after more advise regarding my rebuild of an OS 70 FS Surpass series 1. I am looking for 2 valve springs. From what I understand they are no longer available? If this is so does anyone know of a replacement (Maybe no OS) that will fit?? I also need the piston pin complete with the nylon bungs and a head gasket if anyone can point me in the right direction?
  5. Hi Richard, I was (literally dialing) about to call Chris Foss Designs to see if they could help! P.M sent.... Thank you.
  6. David - point made. The fact is I don't know how big my friends trainer is only that is has something like a 60 2 stroke in it and in my book its huge.
  7. I was always told size doesn't matter - its more what you do with it.....!
  8. I have a good friend (who is actually a Boeing 777 captain for Emirates so one would hope he is ok!) who will help me, he has some HUGE 60"+ trainer (no not the 777!) but id like to fly my plane to learn on. I'll save the FS for the next one and go with advise of a 30 ish 2 stroke. (I am 40 next month so should be ok with 4 ch ) Thank you for the pointers.
  9. Thread revival..! I am in exactly the same position - I've got a 25 yr old partially built Uno Wot kit less the build instructions, anyone got a scanned set they can email me (I live in Dubai so post wont work sadly) Thanks in advance. Gary.
  10. Posted by Andy Butler on 07/01/2014 12:32:07: I had a Uno Wot and loved it. I definately wouldn't put a 70 four stroke in it, it would be way too powerful and needs a large prop so ground clearance might be a problem and even at idle, there would be enough power to keep flying and you probably would never get the thing down (at least in one piece). Not sure about a 32 heli motor, they are specifically tuned for helicopters but that's the limit of my knowledge. My advice would be to get a good .25 or .32. They're about £30 and £35 respectively from hobbyking UK warehouse. Anyhow it's a great trainer and I'm sure you will enjoy it. I was kinda leaning away from the 70FS - as general opinion is its a bit on the large side (although I thought the general rule with 4's vs 2's was double the capacity = similar performance making the 70FS effectively a 35 hence my initial thought) I was also considering converting it getting a 4 channel wing for it - any view on 3 vs 4 channel as a trainer? I have been 'flying' on Real Flight sim and tend to use aileron much more than rudder - I don't know if this is unwise or incorrect but I just seem to get on better that way?
  11. Hello all - i'm a newby here and found this thread from a google search on the Uno Wot. I like the friendliness going on here so signed up! I have a vintage (25+yr old) 3 channel balsa unbuilt kit that I am resurrecting and was also pondering on which engine would be suitable. I have a rebuilt OS 70 FS four stroke which I was thinking of - any comments on that as a choice? Failing that I have 2 x OS 32 heli motors, at this point I am assuming that the only difference between a heli and plane motor is the heatsink/fins on the head? Apologies for hijacking the thread!
