  1. Hey guys “he 15” is the grade you want not 6082. Noggin end metals has it. Machines like silk to a high gloss. Robin
  2. Most of the top cover now done. Started on installation of the servos etc. Not much wood in Ivans designs. Canopy will be screwed on with a 3d printed pilot inside.
  3. Also been using tissue and dope since the short trousers day, in my case I have never stopped and am now well retired. I always apply it wet and over wood surfaces use thinned dope as an adhesive and on open framework tissue cement. Looking forward to seeing your progress.
  4. Great news Trevor, I am looking forward to it. Thanks for the encouragement.
  5. Canopy from Cloud models fine. Will probably 3d print a pilot and finish off this area first. I intend to test fly the model unpainted so as not to spoil the paint job before I know it flies. Top cover coming along nicely. Have pinned it in place to add the final pieces. Lots of small pieces still to fit and to sheet cover.
  6. Is the Aerofred plan any use. That shows the rib outline . Its the kk version.
  7. Thanks Eric it's 58 inches So the Sarik version may be too big. No size of the actual canopy given. No reply from Vortex yet but they do say on their site it takes a couple of days for a response.
  8. Work started on the top cover/cockpit. Involves quite a bit building in the air but getting there. Not a favourite part of the build for me. Have sent an email to Vortex moulding for a suitable cockpit but I am not sure if they are still in operation?? Anyone had any dealings lately?
  9. Yes a lot use aliphatic. Never used it myself. Have used the canopy glue you mention.
  10. So true, I use pva as well, particularly for sheet lamination or covering. In a past life I was an engineering apprentice at Tate & Lyle and pva was used on some of the gluing machines in the packaging departments . Over 50 different grades were used and few of them were any good for aeromodelling purposes. Made me realise that “pva” came with such a variation of properties.
  11. Ah Dave there I must disagree. Poundland cyano four or five 20g packs for a pound has got to be the best buy going. Doesn't seem to go off as quick as some and over many models performs just as good if not better. Just wish they did balsa cement.
  12. After having slept on it Ray’s comments in the above post have made me change my mind. Hang the cost have ordered 2 tubes of 35g uhu hart on Amazon for £7.83 delivered. Thanks guys for preventing me going over to the dark side. Will still use the all purpose glue for parts where sanding is not involved.
