  1. Here's another factor to chew on with your ginger nuts.

In addition to the actual performance of the various antivirus products (plenty of on-line reviews out there), there's a philosophical argument for using a third party Antivirus (whether free or paid) rather than relying on the inbuilt Windows Defender. The antivirus is there to guard against "holes" in the operating system. I'd rather use a product from a different company to avoid the possibility of the "holes" in both products lining up and letting the virus through. i.e. common mode failures and also possible self denial issues on the part of Microsoft. Just my thoughts - and the reason I use a free third party one.

Reports on here have been noted and passed up the chain, as yet the problem hasn't been identified, issue has been raised with others today and hopefully we'll have an answer and return to normal soon. Don't need to report multiple posts, they'll get sorted by the mods as we see them, sorry I can't be more help.

Have they tried turning it off and back on again? ?

Hamburger still u/s, up to 6 now...

I made a discovery about the hamburger menu on mobile. Tap the burger and the screen darkens, then double click. The menu appears allowing the notifications to be read and reset. Not what it should do but it's a workaround for this particular issue.

Edit - alternatively, pinch the screen to zoom out after the screen darkens. The menu is actually appearing but is off screen. Similar situation for viewing who sent "likes".

I haven't had any issues with this site myself, but just ran a basic performance test to see what it is doing at the moment...

Not absolutely awful, but given a briadmand tst jsut told me I am on nearly 40mb/sec here today I'd expect it to be a bit faster than that to render.

Your spellchecker must be running at 39mb/sec Matty ?

I think this is misleading to be fair.  Yes, you'll have ~£20k in the bank, but you will also have paid out 10 years of fuel cost.  Also, you've not taken any account of inflation.  What will your £20k be worth in 10 years' time?  Do you really think these price rises we're seeing will be temporary?  Solar panels will continue to generate power long past 10 years, so the savings continue to accumulate.

Thanks for the info on the investment BTW.  As you say, what suits one doesn't suit another.  For me, tying money up for five years with capital at risk and not covered by the FSCS isn't what I want to do.  It's a good return though! Any "safe" investments don't keep up with inflation.

P.S. My calculation gives £10,000 at 10 years 7% compound as £19,671 but I could be wrong!

Edit - Apologies - just realised you're spot on if interest is paid monthly!

Actually, your calculation is correct. I accidentally left the calculator set to monthly interest after the 5% calculation. The 7% one is paid at the end of each year.
