Canopy plastic wasn't clear enough to put an FPV camera inside so I mounted it up on the tail. Nice view seeing the aeroplane in the foreground with the scenery below...

First flight. Needs some work but good to get it in the air.

So far the best FPV conversion I have done. The huge flaps make FPV landing very easy.

First attempt at Spitfire chase/formation. Challenging and a few tweaks needed before next time out. Was a horrible day with 20mph wind down the strip which made everything difficult including ground handling. Perseverance will pay off for Summer I think.

I'll do something to the canopy frame or lower the camera. Not sure which...but it was getting annoying as lead jet was hidden by it quite frequently. I'm not seeing much difference between DJI O3 and Caddx Walksnail Avata FPV at the moment. The telemetry display in the latter looks better and that's what I've got in my A-10. Video of that soon.

Our second flight trying to fly a bit of formation. I'll be converting the other Red Arrows to head tracked FPV very soon. Will make it easier for the lead pilot.

I could not make it due to other commitments but Finn scored Best Flight on the Sunday with the Durafly Gloster Gladiator. His first time at a ModelAir event and won't be the last I suspect.

I would normally add 20 seconds of slow motion or something similar for that exact reason. Just forgot to do it this time.

Popham gets better every year from a flying perspective. Was good to see the helicopters getting more flight time. Very proud seeing 11 year old Finn hold his own on a couple of solo slots (including one on Sunday where he woke the crowd up with some Metallica play in the background) and I got to fly some of my premium FMS/Freewing foamies to balance out the larger composite jets, warbirds and aerobatic machines. Looking forward to supporting the show again next year.

I used the new compact Radiomaster Pocket radio together with one of the new Radiomaster ER6G ELRS receivers. Super easy to setup. I'm going to fly with a few models before I give my view on it compared to the TX16S...but so far it's perfect for simple models like this hand launch XFly SU-27. Small monochrome non-touch sensitive screen so more suited to simple EdgeTX model setup. Obviously less switches than the TX16S so more suited to simpler fixed wing models anyway. Main user difference is the trim sticks. Threw me the first time I used them. Had to look down but easy enough once you try. Only $65 with EdgeTX pre-installed and with ELRS protocol.

Yes. In this case he was too far away to judge the landing. I was at full zoom on my camera. The jet would have been very small for him visually.

Downwind flameout and pilot obviously decides not to turn back into wind and risk a stall. Problem is it flew further and further away. Difficult to execute a good landing when it's in the distance. This tested my 25x zoom !
