  1. Hello Kevin, The article was in the RCM&E special, and I had forgotten so I will be digging it out and having a read. Cheers Alan
  2. Bonjour Ernie, Thanks, No rush through as we are off to the UK in about 2 weeks for about 3 weeks and I've still work to do on the fuselage, ie glass it and all the small things that seem to take more time than the major work or is it my clock that goes faster at these times. Oh where did you get the carbon from? Cheers Alan Edited By Alan Pennington on 26/08/2015 10:53:19
  3. Thanks to you all. Yes Ernie that does sound an idea any information would be nice and to Rob I will have a look on eBay as well. Cheers to you all again
  4. There is another thing I would like to know. How do you bend this Dural? I did read in a model mag that you rub soap on it then apply heat wait till the soap turns black then you can bend it without cracking it. Do any of you out there have information on bending Dural. Thanks Alan
  5. Hi Ernie, I'm building a Pacer model. The landing gear sweeps forward and so normal landing gear that is on sale will not do and it needs to be 4mm thick. So I'm looking for a sheet about 12" x 24" with this I can get 2 sets.
  6. Hello again, Sorry I need your help again, living here in France can and is a problem some times. I'm now looking for Dural Aluminium for my Pacer landing gear. Can anybody say where I could buy some in the UK, as I'm coming over next month. Thanks Alan.
  7. Hi kc, I've using Super Phatic for the first time on my pacer in areas that can be held down to dry and yes it works very well, faster than PVA but slower than CA which is good as I've found it gives me time to make sure things are square and in the right place. Do use it. But make sure you clean the needle bit in water after you have used it or you will fined it blocked. 9. Hello Masher, I've had a look at the tool you indicate and it looks great. Thanks Alan
  10. Hello All I've always had problems marking the holes centres when fitting the engine, for there are things in the way stopping me to get the centre of the hole, like the cylinder head, needle, exhaust outlet, etc which means the holes I drill seem never right where thay are. So how do you modellers out there get the holes in the right place. Cheers in advance Alan.
  11. Hello Graham, I have just been reading this post and I see you are the designer of the Pacer I thought the name rang a bell. I am building the Pacer at the moment, I did put a build blog on about this model but I've been having health problems as well as doing alot of renervation work on are house here in France, the model has had to be put to one side. I am starting again on the model after some time, so it's blow the dust off and get cracking again. So far I've joined the wings and glassed them, the tail plan is glassed and now I'm on with the fuselage. As I said in my blog it's a great looking model. 12. I have by doing a test that polyurethane varnish water base is a good fuel proofer. I did a test by putting the varnish on some car paint on a model I have then let it dry, afterwards I rubbed 2 stroke fuel onto it with no effects I did rub an area without varnish and the paint came off so it does seem to work.
  13. Keep up the good work Tony. Great hawk All the best Alan
  14. I know there are many fuelproofers out there but living in France I've found model shops are like hens teeth my nearest is 2 hours away and does not all ways have it in and to post things here can be 3 times the price of the product, so if I can find something in a DIY shop all the better as thay are only 20 min away and you can get larger sizes and better prices for I believe you can some times pay through the nose for items which is designed for one job were as an other item works just as well for half the price.
  15. Hello Kevin b I'm looking for something to paint on after I've painted an aircraft to stop the exhaust muck from softening the paint, because I followed the information when I built a tiger moth in a mag which said he had used car paint and I'm finding its coming off along the area of the exhaust. I was talking to somebody in Norway and he uses this polyurethanemodified oil paint over the colour to seal it. Looking at the information it seems to be a varnish for floors, one brand I've found is Minwax as and you can see on the can it's a polyurethanemodified oil paint and its water base so easy to clean equipment afterwords. 16. Just a second note. Just to say "no never seen it before" Will do
  17. Hello everyone, I like some information please, does anybody know where I can get polyurethanemodified oil paint from, or does anybody know of it under a different name or anything about it. Thanks Alan Pennington
  18. It is looking great, await further updates
  19. Here in France we have the French Air force jets flying low each day and other prop driven aircraft about 4 or 5 of them flying high doing acrobatics in formation 2 or 3 times a week.
