  1. just ordered one myself so ill be following this build   Im gonna make mine conventional tail as discussion on RC groups says the conventional tail lies better. A cheeky bit of carbon fibre will help with any unsympathetic landings.   HS82MGs i reckon would be fine but im wondering about these HS55 sized Towerpro metal gear ones 1.8kg/cm torque and £6.83 each at www.rcmdirect.co.uk, one in each wind to facilitate spoilerons
  2. hello,   Im looking to build nigel hawes whizza (big bro to the fizza), looking for a setup 250 - 350 W All-up weight: 40oz max, Wing area: 315 sq. in. sport aerobatic model.   the motor reccomended at the time was either Hyperion 3013-14 30 to 40A esc and 3S lipo   can anyone reccomend a suitible cheap (but not nasty), motor?   either of these From Giant cod? Keda ThumRun 2834/12 Outrunner Brushless Motor Manufacturer's Specs Motor Diameter: 28mm Motor Length: 34mm Shaft Diameter: 3.17mm Motor Weight: 67g Rpm/Volt (kv):1550 Idle Current (Io) @8,4 V:1.3A Resistance (Ri): 0.025 Power:360W OR Manufacturer's Specs for ThumRun 2830/14 £8.75 Motor Diameter: 28mm Motor Length: 30mm Shaft Diameter: 3.17mm Motor Weight: 56g Rpm/Volt (kv):1600 Idle Current (Io) @8,4 V:0.8A Resistance (Ri): 0.027 Power:340W
  3. anyone got that plan of a PSS aero L59 from an issue of RCME years ago (early 90's?). would like to buy / copy / borrow it. or a PSS mustang? foam or balsa, depron or EPP. last 2 years or so of RCME and  QEFI mags and plans to swap. Also 40mhz R136F futaba reciver brand new going spare: swap for servo's (HS81 / HS55/ Fataba 3003 or smaller), the mag and plan listed above or a buddy box compatible with a futaba T6EXAP 35Mhz
  4. i put a carbon spar in my zagi, backfilled the hole with foam and "Spackle" (the readymix lightweight polyfiller, then used some x-weave tape in strategic places (refer to yourzagi.com)..., light sand then spray with spray on adhesive 3m77 or carpet adhesive etc, ironed on profilm, start from the centre and work outwards.  in retrospect it was a lot of effort for what tunred out to be a dissapointing model, it needs quite a decent wind at my local hill to stay up, and setting it up well is critical.  unlike all my other models, it never really behaves itself and goes where its told. i shouldve bought a wing from phoenix model products instead, but at least i dont mind if it hits a tree, fencepost, or if i reverse over it in the car park the Xit is a better wing than the zagi as its all EPP, the zagi only has an EPP leading edge the rest is cheapo polystyrene! Try to build it light, mount the servos quite far forwards and youll need less lead to balance it.
  5. many caravan shops sell a reel for about 8quid that should do the job. its made of plastic.
  6. An excellent inttroduction to slopesoaring is the phoenix model products synergy duet glider. Its EPP and totally indestructible, (unlike an Easyglider) the synergy flies really well, nice and stable but still responsive when you want it to be, and can theres an optional 2 channel rudder ellevator or upgrade to full aileron wing too. when your better theres also an acro wing available. Phoenix model products do a great range other beginners models such as the eppi soar (thermal and light wind slope model 2m span) and the funstart (a mini version of the synergy but without ailerons). They also do some great flying wings and some indestructible PSS models too. Thay are all quick to build and easy too !
  7. how about a review of the various EPP flying wings on the market. Also here's a review i did for the JP models electrasport (link below), if you like i can do one for the Phoenix model Products Synergy duet glider..probably the best introduction to slopesoaring on the market. http://www.247models.co.uk/product_reviews_info.php/products_id/2644/reviews_id/2?osCsid=b622c608e4bac2297b323f9d
  8. mine flew fine for a couple of weeks then the transmitter throttle stopped working properly..but then whaddaya expect for 30quid!
