  1. Hi Thomas yes thanks for the reply did you have range probs or any issues what so ever this is the only compatible receiver I've seen so far cheers .......... mark
  2. Hi all l think this post has gone into the right place ? since lve been converting my planes to 2.4 I've stayed with futaba receivers , but it is getting a bit costly £300 to date so far just on the receivers and some more still needed . l didn't know there were any other receivers that would use the futaba FASST system until l found this:: In the BMFA mag l saw a add for .......a futaba 2.4 compatable receiver this TFR8 receiver is said (in the review) to be as good as the futaba FASST and under £30 it seems to be a good option has anyone used one these or have any comments regarding them . cheers .................. Mark
  3. Hi Steven m3 rod seems quite large for control rods ! lve used some carbon rod which has two threaded ends that are glued on using epoxy then the clevis screws on as normal Ripmax sells them in packs of two my extra has them on the ailerons and elevators and there has never been any probs maybe these would work for you ??? Cheers ............. mark
  4. Very nice there Danny you have you work cut out don't you l do like the mustang though how big is it . Brian Taylor did make some impressive kits are these two built off plan or using the wood pack , l would have bought the wood pack for my spit £107 =PP but it included the fuzz wood , they cant just do the wings ? which seems a lot of money just for the wings ..ps what is that on top of the hurri wing?     cheers ...............................mark
  5. hi Danny what your saying sounds like a good plan hope it all go,s well Ive found a type lm going to model just need to get some more archive pics all l can find are mostly B/W Brian Taylor was a bit perverse on scale detail my plans even show the flap down tell tails pure genius but l will need to shorten my oles by about an inch and they mount differently to the plans ?     cheers .................................mark

  8. hi danny if you look at this pic inboard of the wing there is a hump both sides uder the red lines blow it up for a better look cant get it any bigger ,,,,,,,, these are the wheel well blisters to acomadate the camber of the wheel ,,look at the tail ,its the mk tony has modeled his spit on , the cannon blisters are further out maybe if you added a bit of chamber to yours and opened the wheel well above then fashened blisters you might even get away with the wheels you have??????????

  10. Hi Danny looking good matey your almost home lve not thought about weighing the fuzz yet but l am pretty sure it lighter then what a balsa fuzz of the same size would be , lm painting the fuzz in matt silver first then re-add the detail /,panel lines and rivets .l will have to get a move on lm hoping to get some air under it this year     cheers ....................................mark   ps can you not infill the retracted wheel well with 1/6 ply then make good around the edges
  11. hi fred l have one but its not yet finished yet lm at the stage to trim the plastic fuzz shell but lm not brave enough yet so ive put it away again must be the longest build in history l ve had nealy two years now !!!!! ..put a saerch up top for mosquito there are build bloggs for it hope this helps .......and good luck ha ha     cheers ............................mark
  12. Hi Danny here's some info on the spit fuzz ......It was made by Retlas Enginering Products sometime around 1995 lve got the mag review?build (model world) . sorry..... l acquired this plane sometime ago looking extremely sad with a lot o structural cracks on the fuzz and a busted engine mount !!! and painted only in what i can describe as green hand painted goop? so the first job was to remove the paint which l took to work and a few hours later and a tin of paint stripper had removed the top coat and primer leaving my with a nice clean fuzz.   next job was to tackle the cracks , after a light tube was put inside there was nothing major so a quick rub down a nice wash ,me and the fuzz ! it was then painted in high build primer lam not after a perfectly racing car finish as spits weren't perfect this is how it looked when l got it .......... a bit battle worn ... after a quick clean with paint striper ,the black bands are carbon tape at 2" and strangly the instructions l have show no formers !!! these are the only pics l have at the moment but it does now look like a very different plane now ,one nice touch is that the canopy os of the early type with the top part blown but with flat sides and the sliding oval window , early mk1 me thinks so ive got a lot of choice on the type .     the wing are made or foam with a obichi vanear ,and fixed undercarrage and lm not using them ,. ive found the Brian Tayler 69.9 spit pans and the wing is exactly the same so thats what lm making now ............................... more soon     cheers ................................mark
  13. Hi Danny I've started my spit wing from Brian Taylor plans 69.5", l will have to put some pics on , they fit my RETLAS glass fuz really well but the air retracts I've bought of Ebay are to long and will have to be cut down to fit between the ribs , have you had a chance to try that filler yet ? let me know what you think , anyway lm still following you build with great interest looks really nice , ps lm right about the wheel blisters on the wing my plan shows them ! Ha Ha cheers................ Mark

    Foam cutter

Hi Dan use a 12v car battery more than enough power for foam wing cutting , themBalsacabin sells the right wire you need . Cheers. Matey ........... Mark
  15. if only l could find those molds , l could see a rather nice composite wing . Hi Lindsey the foam we use is an epoxy 2 part mix it needs to expand to play it's part , it's only the resin that's ether infused under suction or compression both would work better than hand layup but as my fridge Motor stopted working lm doing it by hand layup cheers.................... mark
  16. hi Dan ok ....you have got a wing profile fully symmetrical 1' wide chord you could make a 3D /pattern ship or a funfly none of your foil /rudder molds are tappered ? which makes somthing like an extra not poss keep us posted ...............................................mark
  17. hi Dan looks good but lm not up on aerodynamics on wing shapes lm sure someone will be, though a fully symmetrical wing might work better if there is some degree of sweep what is the length chord of what you have there what ever you build will be fast   cheers ..............................mark
  18. still might do it ha ha
  19. Hi Dan not sure if that epoxy foams to dense and heavy for a wing.........but sometime ago we build two YINGLINGS for the GB olympic girly team ,we had a spare set of rudder molds ! and l thought "make a set (pair) and join them together and l would have one hell of a delta " thats as far as it got ,as soon as l pinched them they were wanted "doh" so look around at work and think "wing" you might have the perfect mold already ,nice wing with epoxy ribs clear gell carbon weave go on you know you want to   cheers buddy......................................mark
  20. Hi Ian Ive found a build blog for this W M super chipmunk on another model website the guy used a saito 1.00 FS and only had to add 4oz to the tail maybe you need to find another heaver engine 1.5lb cant be correct ??? can it the saito 1.00 fs weighs in at about 20oz including the exhaust ,you could move the engine further out on the mounts its all about leverage and stick the rx batt in the cowl   cheers ........................mark
  21. Hi Brizwiz there's not a lot of room in there !! what are those tubes for ? . Just an idea but would it be poss to mount the steering servo on the underside of the fuzz a bit like some wing servos where just the topmand horn sticks out ,then with the pushrod running through a tube like Timbo suggested ?being a leky and a trike it shouldn't get damaged hope this helps cheers ...........mark
  22. Looks very sturdy Tim l bought one of those Great Planes ballancer sometime ago cant t get on with it ,seems to twist out of shape , this one of yours won't cheers ........... Marko
